What important life lessons has the recession taught you?

Now that the online publishing industry is going through economic challenges, what important lessons have you learned that you'd care to share?

HorseShit 02-09-2009 06:27 PM

nothing.

Libertine 02-09-2009 06:32 PM

I've learned that 99.9% of people know absolutely nothing about economics. I've also learned that this does not stop them from randomly spouting their asinine ideas about it.

AnniKN 02-09-2009 06:42 PM

I've learnt that those who panic the most, are the ones who have never faced real generalized economic troubles before.

After Shock Media 02-09-2009 06:46 PM

That if it does not directly hit them in the mouth, they will deny it is really happening. They are even fantastic at rationalizing it by pointing out others who are also acting like it does not exist and thus therefore it is indeed all a media made myth and not real.

I've learned to keep your expenses tight, and keep on working hard even if times are going great

I've learned that the world is a projection of my own intention.

Even though last month was our best month ever, it taught me that i really dont need two 140k cars. Next car will be something regular, because if shit ever hit the fan, im sure that 280k would be helpful.. I'll stick to a 3 series or a that new challenger (if dodge is still in business).
Cheers,
Duke

I have learned nothing is permanent and you must accept and adapt to change.

James 02-09-2009 10:37 PM

the recession has taught me i am thankful I don't work in the 'real' world.

The BIG TWO:

Are you alive?
Are you in good health?

If the answer is yes to both then life's fucking awesome and you have nothing to bitch about!!!

Number 1 is highly irrelevant.

Exactly, best plan you can have.

I've learned how to efficiently utilize space, how to store food, how to preserve food, how to grow vegetables indoors with minimal soil and so much more than I care to write about in a single post, but let's say the economy fully collapses and food becomes scarce, I certainly won't be hungry for at least a year.

- Shut your mouth, and worry about your own business and stop trying to be the moral police.

- Adapt or die, times are changing, and if you don't change with the times, you'll die.
