http://www.bizchair.com/27516-blt.ht...LAID=146873984 anyone here have one? I think sitting down too much is starting to fuck up my back and legs. My body feels like an old mans body. anyone have a stand up desk at home? |
why? Are you a maitre de or something?
|
thats actually very healthy for you
|
Then your legs get tired and the knees give out.take a break every half hour or an hour if your sitting for long periods of time

I just ordered a new corner desk for the small BR upstairs I am turning into a second office. I am planning to use it for my chat/cams/streaming radio station projects. The room is fairly small, so even though I prefer large L desks like I have in MY office. I had to find something smaller.
Something I would be comfortable at when I have to use it, more importantly will fit in that room, and have some space. I settled on this. It is being delivered this week, as well as jdavis's computer. |
I guess that would be helpful if you have a business that requires you or your staff to input something standing up.

This looks like a trap chair from the movie SAW |
That would be cool for people who work in garages and places like that.

Instead invest 5 bucks into a electronic timer of some sort with an alarm. Hell even an egg timer would work. Set it and have it remind you to move your ass every hour or two. Stand up, stretch, take a walk to the kitchen and drink yourself a glass of water. Something or other. My own little ritual is to take a break each day for tea. Will start up the electric kettle and prep a small pot. Gather everything I need while it brews. Go somewhere else that is not the PC and enjoy that brief 15 to 30 minutes, making sure I just relax and clear my mind. Just about every time I do this once back at the computer I feel as if I just started almost, hard to explain. Just very energized and more focused. This break does not include the lunch break I also take, found not taking that either fucked shit up. |
Useful in other way.

Oooo #2 and #1 would be the best thing ever.

How about you go to the gym in the mornings and workout? You can hit the weights and the treadmill....Then you can come home and sit down ALL DAY with no worries...
I used to have a problem with my hips locking up...I would sit for days and days at a time and if you do that, eventually, your body says fuck it and you will barely be able to walk... I don't do that now...I go to the gym at least 5 days a week...I went this morning to lift weights even though I don't really feel too good today...However, I worked out, hit the jacuzzi and the steamroom, and showered.... Now I'm sitting here for the rest of the day and I'm taking shots of vodka, have my vaporizer set to 360, and I'm about to play some Xbox360.....And it's GUILT FREE because I already got my workout in.....Plus my hips don't lock up anymore. |

Editor Walter Murch does all his editing standing up, he said once he started doing it he felt much better.
