quiet 2 answer ur question i know a handful of guys who are content providers and run small sites that they promote themselves

it really depends on the background u come from some ppl are heavy into the niches they shoot (since many times they participate in the content) so it is easy 4 them to run sites that appeal to their target audience.

they dont make a fortune 4 the most part but they do quite well considering what they have to invest to make it work.

if i had a choice id do a standalone site and buy traffic from ppl i trusted if i could generate it myself; keep all the money/rebills u can keep no sense giving it all away.

you do get a lot of undesirables in an affiliate program, a lot of headaches supervising it. with one or two sites and not a huge overhead it's better to go out and find solid private traffic sources
that can last a long time.

quiet i'm sure has a select group of people who send him traffic.

gotta pay for traffic - not too many companies are totally self sustaining when it comes to traffic.

I think that depends on what you are promoting. I have a small affiliate balloon fetish program and only people interested in promoting the small micro fetish will sign-up for it . :)

i don't 'always try to sell my site'. i made exactly one thread about selling it, a couple of months ago - due to the visa uncertainty.

i thought you were part of a group of sites Pink. When i looked at your site there was something at the bottom about getting membership to a whole bunch of other amateur girl sites as well.

that company doesn't have an affiliate program?

quiet i know ppl who invest in sites like that and usually they r not intersted in sites with affiliates, since when things change hands it can get messy. relying on ur own traffic is the closest thing to a sure bet u can have these days, when it comes to sales and maintaining levels of profit after a buyout.

keep us posted if ur friend is still looking 2 sell, i know that i personally would have buyers.

I don't have any affiliates, but then most of my stuff is AVS.

I am putting a couple of my sites on billing services that allow for affiliate proggies, but they will never be anything more than small, private programs for people I know and trust.
