I am Baaaaaaaack!!!!

Oh wow, what a scarey damn time that was..... it was the single most scarey time I think I have ever been thru in my life, hands down. The thought that we may NOT make it thru this entered my head so many times..... but we made it.

And let me say here and now, WE were the lucky ones, our power was only out for 5 days, so we at least had heat for most of the time I was down.... and since our place is relatively new, our trees are still babies, so they didn't fall near our house and withstood most of this..... so OUR "damage" was minimal. So I acknowledge that we were probably the luckiest ones in all of this as scarey as it was.

NOW..... let me thank a couple of people who helped "ME" personally get thru this, these guys were my lifeline and my outside connection to the world that wasn't struggling for their lives like we all were here in Kentucky. Without the 3 of these guys, I think I would have been alot worse in my head than I was.... so here goes:

Jim from Fetish Videos - you were the very first one I was able to get in contact with and you stood right there with me and listened to me when I was just about to lose my mind.... thank you, you are a very true and close friend and I will forver be grateful to you.

Jason from Puremeds - not only are you my co-worker, but a very dear and true friend. It took me awhile to get thru to you, but once I did, you were so supportive and my lifeline to the rest of our team of fantastic and caring people.

Simon from College Girl Cash - you have always been very true to me and we've been thru alot together and you were there when I needed you the very most, I adore you and you are one of the best people I know, not one time have I ever needed you have you ever turned your back on me.

THANK you to all of you....... I don't even have the words in my head to express to you how much the 3 of you meant to me then and now.... :thumbsup

NOW...... do you guys want a picture into MY world over the past week or so? lol

Storm Pics - these are the pics we took. The ones with dates on them I took from my front and back doors.... I wasn't even considering stepping one foot outside in this... I have a hard enough time walking without 2 inches of ice on the fucking ground. lmao

The others, my husband went out at the first chance he could get to see how bad it was, I think it was the 29th or 30th.... and that is just a portion of what he seen.

digifan 02-05-2009 12:59 PM

Welcome back, hon.. glad to hear you are doing ok.

That is just the tip of it, the GOOD parts. There are still people trapped in this shit.... and people without anything in the world. It was very sad and still is. I am not sure, but someone musta been looking out for my family... seriously.

Welcome back Tam :thumbsup

Thanks hon...... :) I feel like I am so lost..... and trying to make up a weeks work all at 9one time. lmao

Let me add in this thread before I get too far removed from this whole ordeal.

In as much as I despised our Governor, Steve Beshear, you know the one trying to stop porn and online gambling sites in Kentucky? THAT one? That man and President Obam were way above and beyond on this whole mess. Those two were right there and stepped up in a way that our country isn't used to anymore. They BOTH stood up and took major action to help and are STILL helping all they can... so Beshear has some decency left in him afterall. Obama doesn't surprise me, I knew he'd be standup... but Beshear does. lol

There, I have to go wash my mouth out now, I actually respect something the government did for one time.... lmao

My husband took that one, he turned the camera I guess... I didn't know it was like that until it was uploaded. It was a massive tree, so it took alot to get it all in the pic. lmao

oh god, if you seen the level of mud and shit going around here, you'd see why too.

We had a flood, ice storm and snow storm all at the same time. The flood was first and then the ice started and ended up as snow..... but before it started to freeze, there was all but a swimming pool in my front yard... :Oh crap

They are saying this is not only the first storm like this to ever hit Kentucky in the history of Kentucky, but probably in the history of the country. To have a flood, ice and snow storm all at the exact same time is, I guess, kind of an odd thing.

I don't know how much rain or snow we had, but I know we had over 2 inches of solid ice.

It was pretty crazy to say the least... there are a lot of people that still aren't out of the woods yet on this thing. We seen on the news where one family was trapped and ran out of firewood and was pulling the wooden fixtures and shelves off the walls to burn to keep their family warm......

Stories like this are sad... the whole thing was. Where some people were, they were stranded for days.... but the national Guard came in and was cutting them out, so were neighbors. It's pretty cool how they all just stood together and have been getting thru this.

Shit, you wouldn't happen to be anywhere near bowling green would you? I am only about 150 miles away from Bowling Green. I am not sure how badly they were hit there, but I am pretty sure they were one of the ones hit hard. If you can't get in touch with them by phone.... send me an email with their name and I can see what I can do to find out.

We have the National Guard that is taking calls like this and going out to find the people that aren't reachable by telephone. Parts of Bowling Green still are without power as are many and they are saying it could be weeks before they get it if they live in rural areas.... which is a large portion of the state.

Seriously though, if you can't reach her, let me know, I will help all I can to check on her for you.

uno, I was moved here as a kid against my will, and met and married my husband..... I wasn't given a choice but I can assure you, if I was, I so wouldn't be here. lol

Ok, no problem. I'll be more than happy to help all I can. The rural areas were the hardest hit and the last ones to get turned on. They are turning on the cities first, obviously because of the hospitals and other such things. We are in a rural area too, and I can't figure out for the life of me how ours was turned on so early... the only thing we can think of is that we are a much much smaller community and not that many people and lines to get turned on, and not so many trees. The majority of the damage was in the more wooded areas where trees fell on the lines and broke them.

It's pretty bad for everyone though... so if you need help locating her, please, by all means, let me know. We have internal ways of getting to them where you may not be able to.

Thanks, VeriSexy. :)

Oh my god..... I don't think so. I don't EVEN have the temperament for that kind of thing. :1orglaugh:upsidedow

I am actually very proud of all of my family, we pulled together and helped each other and there was not one spec of bickering or anything. We had my oldest and her husband come and stay with us because they had zero heat sources and my oldest son made sure I had food to eat... since I am Diabetic, he got scared of that. Then he brought us a little cook stove he borrowed from his girlfriend's dad.... so we actually did pretty good.

the ONLY thing we had real issues with was the net being down... and the insane cold at night. But when all was said and done, the thing we missed most was the internet..... I am a workaholic and they are internet geeks.... so we missed that more than anything. lol

Did it force you to.... *gasp*.... talk? lol

Seriously you never realize how much the internet means until you don't have it for a while.

Tam 02-06-2009 04:31 PM

Let me stop here for a minute and say that Verizon Wireless is the best Cell phone service there is. In all of this, they are the ONLY service that didn't go down. While I didn't have the net access feature at the time, we did have our cell phones thru this and no one on any other service had access to even their cell phones.

The City and County Workers all use AT&T and so does the Government I guess, because Beshear publically announced his frustrations with AT&T. 95% of this state I guess uses, or should I say USED, AT&T and not one had any means of communication with one another at ALL.

Verizon was the only one that withstood all of this. I went to the Verizon Store on Friday to buy a car charger..... funny I never owned one before... and that place was packed full of people switching over to Verizon so they could communicate with their friends and families.

The Kroger Chain was amazing... the morning after, those people opened their store and were helping people without even a minute's thought of monetary gain whatsoever. They were handing out the cold and freezer goods like crazy to help people.... WE could put it in coolers outside to keep it good, they couldn't. So rather than do what Wal-Mart did...... which was put all of theirs in a truck, take it to the dump and run over it to ruin any chances of anyone using it.... they were GIVING it away to help.

Kroger manually were rining up orders, all to help. We had a couple of small mom and pop places that were running their own stores on generators to help people with gas and kerosene.

The only ones that didn't stand up and help were Wal Mart and AT&T..... literally everyone else was right there for us all.. government included. :thumbsup

Oh my god.... I am way better on here than I am face to face. My eyes give up my frustration so fast it isn't even possible to hide it. So yeah... I'd either half kill some of those crybabies on there or GET killed.... rotfl

Actually, we did more talking than we have in years... like where the hell is my DS or my iPod.... or a flashlight, I have to pee... rotfl

But yes, I have raised my kids geared towards technology because that's their future. This thing hit us and we had to teach them how to survive without it. And to be honest, they did amazingly well... I was and still am shocked. :helpme I think someone stole MY family and replaced it with robots, they were that damn good. lmao

You know, you hear shit about wal-mart over the years and you pass it off as just that... shit, shit that people say. But THIS?... I mean that is just plain ignorant of wal-mart.

People in your area should boycott the shit out of them for that. Of course they'd only end up laying off all the locals who work there. Bastards.

You should leak this story to the media.

PS -- it's always nice when your family surprises you pleasantly. Imagine all the parents out there who were disappointed by their whiny brats complaining for the whole week? Ug. Nice to hear yours stepped up.

Here is what was said on the post that we seen....

Quote:

I live in Murray, KY and found some disturbing news. When I went into the store today, I found that the frozen coolers were completly empty and so was every other cold shelf. I didnt think too much aboout it till I starting askin why it was empty. They didnt get a generator to help the cold things keep where people could get food. Instead of donating the food to people in need across our region or at least letting people buy it when they could before it went bad.....THEY THREW ALL THE FOOD AWAY!!! If they donated it they could have written it off on their taxes, but by throwing it away their suppliers will reimburse them for the lost food. Kroger ran off a rented generator so people could get food. Can someone tell me what is wrong with this picture????? Kroger is so much smaller than WalMart and they went above and beyond to help out the community. It is an outrage that they would throw food away when this region has been under a state of emergency since last week and people are still without power. I hope people will spread the word.

If I upset anyone by sending this blog out, I am sorry but I felt it needed to be told.

They are not keeping it to themselves at all... word is getting out. We had a stock pile of food, we always do, so we didn't need to go out in this shit for food but one time. But there are those that buy only what they can eat in a few days so they were in deep trouble..... and they witnessed this firsthand, and they aren't being quiet about it at all. This was on our local news website's blog. lol
