i lost 2 fingernails, luckily didnt break any of the fingertips. anyone ever lose use of a hand and have any tips to help me type? right now its tortuous having full use of my left hand, im righty, and only one finger available on the right.

i've already figured out ways to deal with that. I can switch hit, which applies to several activities I'd need my main hand for.

it never occurred to me during the "i'm in shock because of tremendous pain and my fingernails are hanging on by threads of flesh" phase to take pics... sorry.

Ouch!!!! Sorry to hear that Uno! I broke both my elbows and my wrist at the same time so I can understand how that sucks. Try using an upside down pencil to type with in your gimpy hand, its easier than hunt and peck with your finger believe it or not.

My father suggested typing with 2 fingers like he does. I can typically type 80-110+ wpm the correct way and can't bring myself to devolve to 2 finger typing and typing with 1 hand would probably leave me with too many bad habits. Hopefully the doc will tell me i don't need the splints tomorrow or its going to be a real rough few weeks; that is, if i have the range of motion with my swollen ass stiff fingers.
