Notice how it says UCLA doesn't pay attention to the citizenship status of its students. YET this beaner had a relatively low GPA and relatively low test scores and the only reason she was admitted was because of her hardship essay which gave a sob story about being an illegal mexican.

It's pathetic that we are encouraging behavior like this on a country wide level.

during the time i lived in California, they closed down something like 14 hospitals because of lack of funds and bankruptcy of the hospitals caused by illegal immigrant sickness and births which weighs heavily on cali tax payers.

i was surprised to see it being done so often.... but its caused by so many undocumenteds wandering in with health isssues, births etc, and Amerca we dont take PESOS.

Why does a public school not care about the citizenship of its applicants? What right do they have to displace an American for an invader?

I'm always up for a challenge and respect people that want to push themselves, but she's in for one hell of a ride. That school is SERIOUSLY academically challenging, especially the psychology major. If it's such a pain in the ass to get there everyday and she admits that she's not the most academically inclined, then why subject yourself to that? Again, I get that it was the most prestigious school that she got into, but the students there are super competitive. I think she'll probably end up transferring :2 cents:

I have family member who was teacher in California and just moved to Germany because he could not understand how he was supposed to deal with kids in a room that speak 4 languages, THIS IS AMERICA! So he left, got a great job teaching in Germany.

You guys are reading way too much into this article, she doesn't seem to be "whining" as much as the article writer is trying to slant things in other words the reporter is the one whining. People holding fundraisers for her are probably doing it because they hear of her plight and want to help, I really don't see anything that says she is out begging herself.

The school hasn't done her any favors by letting her in when it may have been wiser to let her go to a community college instead, she is young and without enough family guidance, I'm sure we all would possibly make a bad decision or two ourselves at that age.

Hope the best for her, she should be getting advice to transfer and get into something that will be a little better for her goals. :2 cents:

would need more information to figure out how this came about, I doubt she wrote a letter saying "I'm an illegal, so that is why you should let me in"... the school itself may have felt sorry for her as part of it (and somebody probably pushed her in the direction toward that program, thought they were doing her a favor I'm sure), but you sure are generalizing when you say "another brown face with their hand out"..... EVERY immigrant I've run across wants to work, many will work two jobs if you give them the chance, and they work hard and are grateful for the pay

UCLA is an enormous school which could really give 2 shits about their students. You are just another number, and they really don't care if you fail. The professors aren't even that helpful (if at all), since they have to teach in order to work on their studies there.

lol my wife is from Alhambra and she was the only white girl in her school even years ago hahaha and all her friends are/were Asian. Crazy how different the US is from city to city, but it is... although you make it sound like an asian girl in Alhambra is all alone, ever look at a yearbook from there? I am more than willing to bet that at least 50% of the people that did not pay that brought those hospitals down were people that BORN in the USA.

I worked for a hospital in Miami and they have just as many illegals as Cali and they had their share of people not pay. Surprisingly, the mexicans paid for fear of getting deported. it was the whites and blacks from FLorida that did not.

I am not going to debate is there are more mexicans in Miami or los Angeles, however, the numbers of closed hospitals and the factual reasons provided state that it was illegals, and the unusual high cost of treating every single illegal that comes into LA for birth and or trauma or disease...

Ive read numbers from 70 - 80 hopistals closed since 1990. You just dont see this happening in other places... not at this pace or level.
