UK Covered In Snow >>>>[PICS]

So we had a bit a snow and half the country comes to a standstill..lol, anyway I decided to go out and take some pics as it is very rare that we get this amount of snow down here.

Late last night in Portsmouth

These people were having fun up on one of the hills in Petersfield. This was some distance from where we were and the camera was on maximum zoom.

Sarah_Jayne 02-02-2009 09:39 AM

very nice..I have taken a bunch. My area is the kind where people tend to keep to themselves but everybody was out with their cameras this morning talking to each other..nice feel.

Thanks Sarah, Post the others you took I would love to see more of London covered in snow. You are right about the snow bringing people out too. Its kinda nice to see people enjoying themselves and it dont cost you a penny. I was kinda worried about our next door neighbour with the cold weather we'v been having, as he is 90 years old but I keep an eye on him and make sure he has gas and food as he cant really go out when the weather is like this.

Nice snow shots man!!

Sarah_Jayne 02-02-2009 11:29 AM

Then there were the people:

This guy insisted I took his picture and then hit on me and wouldn't leave until I said pretty loudly that I was married.

http://www.sjayne.com/boardpics/snow/DSCF0753.JPG

This kid was going to the shops just so that one day he could tell his kids that 'back in his day' he had to walk to the store in ten feet of snow...

http://www.sjayne.com/boardpics/snow/DSCF0756.JPG

The shops across from me were full of people taking pictures of their kids with snow. It was clear many had never seen real snow like this.

http://www.sjayne.com/boardpics/snow/DSCF0758.JPG

These guys were having a snow ball fight on the balcony under mine. They posed for a picture and then pelted me with that snow ball in her hand! It was all in good fun...which is what we don't have enough of lately in this country. Just good fun.

http://www.sjayne.com/boardpics/snow/DSCF0764.JPG

and the miniature snow men..

halfpint 02-02-2009 12:23 PM

Thanks Sarah, real nice photos, it makes a change to see people smiling and just having a great time when its cold. Love the doggie ones, Our dog was trying to catch the snow flakes and then he decided it was good to eat the snow. He was like a kid playing in the snow, good fun times all round...

Andy CHOOPA 02-02-2009 12:24 PM

If we get 5 centemeters of snow down here in the South which is very rare, most of the public transport stops. Schools close and even the airlines shut runways. We are not geared up for snow and never have been. The local councils do thier best to grit the roads and keep the main routes open but even that fails most of the time..some kids down here have never even seen snow like this before.

Martin 02-02-2009 12:48 PM

A little taste of the north for ya. Give me a call when you get 15 foot snow banks though ;)

Laughing at you doesn't seem right, but people that live in the snow belt find it funny when we hear stories like this. :)

Great fun today, very rare that we have snow down south!

I'm loving it, everyone out in the streets happy and playing with each other.

Things have been so down note here lately that the nation need a big giant national belly laugh. Okay, people had work off but they blew off steam ..that has to be worth something.
