CDSmith what are the cabins around Grand Beach like?
are there any that are like right on the fucking main part of the beach? i dont even care if there is 10,000 people outside of my cabin.
im thinking of renting a spot for the summer. running water and such? i dont want know grubby place, i dont want pigeons shitting on my armani clothes either. |
I own 161 acres with 1/2mile of beach front in Oak Point = 45 minutes from Winnipeg.
If you want to rent the land for the summer hit me up ;-) |

There are several cabins on the point just a three minute walk from the beach that are pretty nice. A few are incredible actually. I'd stay away from Grand Marais though, the small town near Grand Beach, as all the ones I've seen there are pretty poor quality and overpriced.
I don't know how you'd go about finding one to rent though, maybe take out an ad in the Winnipeg Free Press or Sun? And the sand at Grand Beach, although not quite smashing white but more of an off-white, is considered white sand, and is nearly as soft as talcum powder. It's one of the top beaches in the world for sand quality, but if you're going in swimming just pay attention to the health warnings for E Coli in the water. It's been bad at times in the last 5-10 years. |

i am going to do some research around the area next few months and see how things turn out. nothing like a manitoba summer. |
One adjustment regarding Grand Marais cabins -- there ARE some that are nice there too. Just most of the commercial rental ones I've seen there are dumps, too small, too basic, crowded together and way overpriced.
But there are some privately-owned ones that are nice, and possibly for rent at certain times. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach from there. Secluded from most of the crowds though, which is good. I've seen over 80,000 people on that beach on a long weekend. |
