Good places to hire freelancers for services on per-project basis?

I've had moderate success with scriptlance.com, some are good and you can get some decent work done if you're willing to sift through the tons of crap from Indians who spam you stuff that doesn't even relate to your project. Registered for getafreelancer.com gonna try it out as soon as they post my first project. elance is not an option as they have no categories for writing/submitting/etc. Any others you know of/have tried?

I usually use word of mouth recommendations, and then keep going back to the same people.

Me too, but I'm looking to outsource some projects where I don't know anyone with the needed experience.

GFY is really no different, if you take into account the amount of crap contacts when advertising a job/project.

I have been using Scriptlance for a while now - over 3000 in projects and LOVING IT!

I use them for everything from writing to coding!

I've heard odesk.com is good too, not actually got anyone from there yet though, but I've got a major joomla project coming up so gonna give it a try.
