Buyouts are nice, and I suggest anyone who is offered one take it. My friend worked at Delphi Automotive, A pretty big GM parts supplier in NE Ohio. Back in 2006 they offered anyone who had been there for over 12 years a $90,000 buyout.
I told him to take the money and run. Alot of people did, but he was not one of them. He kept his job and his $22 an hour and hoped for the best. Bad move.
In this last few weeks when the shit hit the fan and all the companys started cutting jobs left and right Delphi was one of those companys. 99 people were let go, and he was one of them. Not laid off mind you, just let go. No job, no severance pay, buh-bye.......
He was under the impression that since he didn't take the buyout, the company would stay loyal to him and keep him around until the bitter end. LOL
I told him to take the money and run, but he didn't listen....
