Decent Vegas Restaurants?
 

I'm going to be in Vegas the first week in December. Some friends and I are doing a 3 day class at www.derekdaly.com but after we tear it up on the track we'll be looking for some places to chill.

I'm looking for a bunch of restaurant recommendations from cheap to downright horrendously expensive. I've been there a few times for Internext but I'm looking to broaden my knowledge of the city and have some fun with the boys.

How about some suggestions?

i always like to hit up Benihanas japanese food... it's healthy at least =)

theres an italian place around the corner from the nightclub "the beach" It was the best italian food I ever had. It has a mobster type feel to it. Very good place but the name escapes me.

Prime at the Bellagio
Nine at the Palms
Delmonicos at the Venetian

Italian:

Zeffirino at the Venetian
Wolf Gang Pucks place at Mandalay

oh yeah....and if you like Sushi Nobu at The Hard Rock kicks ass!

There's a good BBQ spot...I think it's called Memphis Championship Barbecue or something like that.

The buffets at The Rio and Green Valley Casino are both killer.

BTW, the *real* Las Vegas is away from the strip.

Coyote Cafe in the MGM Grand (both the casual and gourmet sides are excellent)
Nine at The Palms
Picaso at Bellagio
Buffet at Bellagio
Spagos in Caesar's Palace Forum Shops
Nobu at The Hard Rock
The Japanese place in the Tropicana (can't remember the name off hand)

good, cheap eats:
Sunset Station Buffet
Taco Bell (fuckload of locations) ;)
Steak House at Circus Circus
Iron Horse cafe in The Palace Station

There has got to be at least 1 burger place....and I have just
the one that needs to be on it....

best burger, better than fatburger is In-N-Out get the classic Doulbe Double and fries.

best wine list and great food is Areole in mandalay bay. check spelling

Ah yeah...In-n-out also brings back memories from the west coast.

Aureole :thumbsup A good friend of mine manages the place...known him for a good 20 years; I went to school with his brother. And yeah, that place is the shiznit in the obscenely expensive category but the tasting menu r0x0rs...took us 4 hours to get through it last January :winkwink:

Expensive -> obscene.. you could do fine in this category never leaving the Bellagio:

Middle Range:

I think the best place to stay if you're a foodie in Vegas is Mandalay Bay. The Bellagio is a great place to visit, but unless you're getting comped high roller rooms or willing to fork over for a suite you'll find the regular rooms & room service underwhelming, esp. considering what can be had at places like Mandalay & the MGM for the same price.

UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE Cajun/Creole. Emeril Lagasse and Paul Prudhomme got started as chefs in their New Orleans location--so it's no fucking joke. Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. $50-$100 per person if you wanna do it right.

Near the Paris casino. Ask a cabbie. The service is THE BEST.

3950 in Mandalay Bay. Lobster is served whole!

Damn Ken, how could you leave out Picasso? It's my favorite restaurant in the US ;)

Delmonico, Zeffirino and Tsunami (awesome sushi) at the Venetian. The Mexican restaurant at the Venetian shops.

Le Cirque, Aqua and Picasso at Bellagio.

Fiore at the Rio.

Brown Derby at the MGM

Trattoria, I think it's called, the Italian place at Caesars.

Bice at the Aladdin

Rosewood Grille, Mortons are not in any hotels but are good.

The japanese restaurant at the Hilton.

Some of them are crazy prices, some aren't

You can't go wrong with any of the Bellagio restaurants.. I have tried them all..but for the view and menu..i think Olive's rates among my faves..and another place that gets overlooked a lot is the restaurant on top of Harrah's.. The Range steakhouse..great views down the strip..excellent steak and if you like sauteed mushrooms..:thumbsup

Top notch list. I think you mean Terrazza not Trattoria but there is another decent Italian place called Bertolini's that is in the Forum Shops. You can sit by the fountain and have a great meal for a moderate price.

a few things I found about it.
Batistas Hole in the wall italian food.

"We also went to Batista's Hole in the Wall, a decades old, classic Las Vegas Italian restaurant behind the Flamingo. The food is nothing special but the atmosphere features dark walls covered by autographs of Sinatra-era celebrities through to Tom Cruise, all of whom ate there after performing or visiting one of the casinos. PS been there 4 times and ive never been let down,

last time I went some guy gave us a bag of pot cause he had to get on a plane that night,

so not only is the food great, you might get smoked for free

The best in Vegas IMO is Picasso at Bellagio. It is French fine dining where you will find countless bottles of wine over 10K each. The dinner is around $100/plate.

I highly recommend it. Worth every penny.

You have to go to Samba's in The Mirage. Amazing Brazilian BBQ. Worth every penny

I can't beleive noone has mentioned the Voodoo Lounge on top of the Rio. Great Cajun but has the best view in the City. The entire strip is laid out in front of our table.

I like to go downtown to a quite old school steak house called Binions Ranch. Real good food w/ a great view and atmosphere. Pricey, but worth it. Dinner will run you about 200$ for 4 people, (at least). Last time I was there, I ran into Chris Penn. If he can chill there, so can you.

Mmmm, speaking of Voodoo Lounge, the Foundation Room on top of Mandalay is the shit. Food is great, ambience is superb!

Commanders is good too, but I like the original in NOLA better --

If ya want GREAT sushi, check out Sushi House Manda . It's located near the corner of Sahara and the Strip, near the freeway. It is in the same shopping plaza as the "Golden Corral". Manda has "all you san eat" for about $24.00, and they don't limit your selections from the menu like some other places do.

When you get there, tell the sushi master to pick something for you. The 2 chefs appreciate that approach, and will make you some stuff not on the menu. Be sure to ask for the "scallop special" and end the meal with the "Dragon Roll" . You will have a great time there and the sushi chefs will keep you fat and happy.

I have been going there for at least 10 years and althought I hadn't been there in a while, last time I was there, the owner came over to me and said she had not seen me in a while and hoped I was ok. How can you beat that kind of service? You are just one of 20,000 other "customers" at any of the places on the strip located inside a casino. Save your $$$ and check this little place out. For my money Picasso and LeCirque at the Bellagio are worth a trip to Vegas.

For a hella good meal Delmonicos at The Venetian is very good and it's a large place...you generally can get a table for that evening if you call by around 2pm.

Yesterday was the worst day I can remember in the last 3 years. Had camera equipment and a bunch of exclusive content stolen. Now I have to re-shoot the content for the client hopefully BEFORE I leave for Vegas in less than 24 hours.

I can not wait to get the fuck out of here and hit the strip. We are gonna get so drunk tomorrow night that it is not even funny.
