I've gone mac.... now what?

after doing some heavy duty shopping and research on jaguar i found that it is sooo unix underneath (i'm a linux nerd) that i decided to go ahead and get one of those fancy new g4's.. well it's pretty friggin cool (although even though i've got dual 1.25ghz processors on it, it still doesnt feel as fast as my 2ghz single p4 system quite honestly) but it hasnt choked once today.. and i've had a ton of fun playing under the hood.

so my question is.. is there any "necessary" software that i should immediately go out and buy?

i heard somebody saying final cut was a good program.. anything else?

if you're doing video - get final cut pro (digital video editing) and Cleaner (compession/encoding). the very best :glugglug

if you'll be doing any high definition video editing, you should look at cinema tools. very cool software.

if you'll be making dvds, get DVD Studio Pro. it rocks.

regardless, of anything else, you should upgrade to quicktime pro right away.

OmniWeb and BBEdit are worthwhile Mac only programs.

If you are looking for Mac software and you can't find it at Version Tracker, it probably doesn't exist.

Linux geeks who enjoy playing under the hood of OS X hang out at Macintoshian Achaia or MacSlash (not to be confused with http://apple.slashdot.org/).

Mac's are the best

If your on the west coast of the USA I would attend the MacWorld San Francisco show in early January.

http://www.macworldexpo.com/macworld2003/V33/index.cvn

Lots of info at this show, very worth the time because it's big enough to include just about everything Mac yet small enough to allow you some quality time with the companies you need info from.

You ever need any help just drop me a line I have two full time Mac experts working for me.
