Only In Canada

We started getting some Best Buy Stores to replace our shitty Futureshops....... People were camping outside the store since 2am waiting for it to open at 9am ;) Saw it on the news, so sad :)

would you like a warranty with that? You need the warranty.

SleazyDream 11-15-2002 07:52 PM

futureshop told me the last time I was in there that they were affiliated with best buy.

Vox 11-15-2002 07:54 PM

Future shop is now owned by Best buy.

just read an article in Business Week magazine that Best Buy's stock has taken a major tumble over accounting irregularities with how they handled the purchase of future shop.

.:Frog:. 11-15-2002 08:10 PM

Future shop is a terrible place to buy computers.

thats where the sales guys make the majority of their pay. The commission rate must be very high on the extend warranties that hardly anyone ever uses so its almost pure profit.

wow, they are so much better then our Future Shop. I used to live in Silicon Valley (San Mateo) so got familiar with their superior everything.

Best Buy employees do not work on commission. So you guys are just imagining a hard sale...&/Or their manager forced them to push it.

This ant.

A kick ass war scene with children running and a real Jeep Wrangler, ARMY style sliced in half by the laser from the UFO

pretty funny.

There was a segment on Market Place about how Future Shop is scamming people with these extended warranties. They followed one person to the store with her warranty and they would not honor it. Best to put your money in a separate savings account to prepare for any costs that might be needed down the road with your new purchase.

I believe they have monthly quotas that offer bonuses and hourly rate increases.

Also, the sales person almost always uses the we dont work on commision approach to somehow validate their piece of shit warranties.

Yes this is the problem. You buy something and if there is a problem they fuck you around or it takes forever to be fixed. No support.

Say you buy a computer and something needs to be fixed, they have no staff to repair it. They will try to do nothing, if that doesn't work they ship it off to be fixed and it takes FOREVER to get it back.

i haven't had a problem with warranty work on anything i bought at future shop. even when i blew the low end on my speakers, they replaced them. maybe the girl liked my ass or something

The problem with most people is that they don't understand that the warranty doesn't cover software-related problems. So, their computer doesn't work right, they take it in to the store, and are told that nothing can be done for them... unless they pay. But if the problem is with the hardware itself in some way, FS does honor it's warranties and they replace whatever parts or equipment are faulty. I've had no problems with them that way.

ALSO... if you buy the warranty and DO have software troubles, you can phone a 24 hr help line and a techie will walk you through anything you need to do.

I took the warranty, and it's saved my ass a bunch of times over the past few years. Believe me, I got my money's worth, and there's still two more years to go on mine. You think I got ripped off?? Suppose your $800 monitor craps out tomorrow..... with no warranty you're fooked. Mine would be replaced no questions asked.

PornoDoggy 11-16-2002 10:26 AM

Extended warranties are pure profit. And Best Buy employees may not be paid commission, but they can get bonuses, offer contests, all that kind of shit to accomplish the same thing.

Almost all hardware comes with a manufacturer warranty for defects....I can't think of any hardware that doesn't....I won't deal with big companies for computer parts because I used to work for one....we pushed the same defective crap constantly to customers...someone buys a computer and comes back next week with a drive acting up....we replace it...10% of the time it goes back to the manufacturer....the rest of the time it goes right into someone else's computer in the hopes they won't compain. The shit made me sick with how they treated customers and was ultimately why I left.
