That's a little inaccurate... or at least misleading.

There's a difference between a collapsed government (Iceland) and a minority ruling party being overtaken by a coalition party to make majority (Canada).

But honestly I haven't been following it, so I really don't know :)

I saw a horrible documentary about people in Iceland, some of whom had taken out loans in foreign currencies. When the krona collapsed, their loans doubled.

Some of those people have lost everything. There were some really sad stories of people living in caravans and some people who had killed themselves. Its really sad and kind of brings it all home especially when some large western governments are struggling right now.

It's not just Iceland. Bulgaria, Lativia, Greece, Ukraine are the next ones. Riots have already started in the first two. These aren't your normal protesting and riot prone countries. Iceland's case is a rare one indeed. Look into the UK labeling it a terrorist state and seizing their money.

was reading an article where conservative, boring, middle of the road, middle class people were finding the political radicals who they thought were dirty yahoos just a year ago were making sense and began to follow them

when the middle classes become politicized and radicalized huge political upheavals go down. next decade will be a giant transformation, for better and worse.
