Chicken question.

While I was at the store today I noticed that they had "hormone free" labeled chicken, it cost more per pound as well. Seems that was the only difference that I could tell as well. Did not mention any other feel good factors about the bird.

So do you or would you pay more for a chicken that is labeled hormone free, does it matter to you?

I'll tell ya, ever since I've been eating 100% organic food, it has made it easier to gain extra few pounds. I don't know if this is a good thing or not....

Did not say organic. Said hormone free.

I am pretty cool with organic food to some degree. Am very picky about foods in general but this one had me question it.

Um no, it cost more.

By the way no answering questions with questions. It is not polite. :winkwink:

I'd pay extra. For eggs too (where chickens walk free outside)

Well free range is a bit different, but OK I will place you in the yes category.

I don't believe anything they put on the package, aslong it's tasty, healthy and good priced I'm down.

So chalk you down to: do not trust labels at all and will buy what is cheaper.

I only buy meat that was clearly free range and organic.

I want the chicken I eat to have had a beautiful life.. to have grown, hit the gym ... get all built and then have died a quick death befo hitting my plate.... I am thinking of Foghorn Leghorn of course... I mean he was clearly on steroids and had a happy life out there next to the lil smart chicken, the dog and all other creatures... so yeap.... that chicken looks edible to me... eventho it was prolly stuffed with steroids ...

so to answer ur question.. nop I wouldn't pay for the hormone free one ... unless I was on a chicken based diet...

BV 01-25-2009 09:24 AM

organic chicken is "hormone free" & "antibiotic free"

but "hormone free" chicken is not "antibiotic free"

tranza 01-25-2009 09:28 AM

I couldn't care less if it's hormone free or not really.

:2 cents:

i dont give a fuck if that fucker has a hypodermic stuck in his ass 30 seconds before he hits the fryer

wyldblyss 01-25-2009 09:41 AM

I would buy just regular chicken, hell, I was raised on it and I am not dead yet. The only thing I buy organic is carrots. They tend to be skinnier and look better in my veggie dip trays

LMAO :1orglaugh

I'd pay it if I was serving to kids.

But for me it's too late to matter probably.

After Shock Media 01-25-2009 02:32 PM

Only reason I even asked is I knew it was purely a marketing ploy. Was interested to see approx how many people would indeed pay more even though the use of hormones has been banned in chicken for a long ass time. So it really did not matter which said it on the label.
