I assume you mean on American soil?

Because if not... remember Iraq? More Americans died there than in the WTC attacks.

Mutt 01-20-2009 04:33 AM

yes, on American soil.

In hind site I do not think the Legacy of the Bush years will be as bad as liberal media wants to paint it. It will be a bad painting none the less mind you.

However Bush did fail the economy and world opinion with some of the chosen methods. The world will not forget Gitmo, nor forget how America lied it's way into Iraq.

Bush could have just stuck with Afghanistan and worked on Foriegn policy better and made off with a awesome legacy. THere was alot of opportunity squandered in his years.

Just my two cents.

A few Americans died in the anthrax attacks just after 9/11. :2 cents:

Oh also, don't know if you'd consider Virginia Tech a terrorist attack or not. I'd say it was designed by that deranged guy for exactly the purpose of terror.

So no Americans were killed by terrorists on American soil between 1945-1993.

if you think Bush is responsible for us being "safe" you're retarded.

I guess all the Mexican drug gangs that come into the US and kidnap and kill people don't count as terrorists in your opinion? If the KKK or Skinheads kill someone that's not considered the work of terrorist organizations?

Not "citizens" if they're in Iraq.

Is 1945-1993 "after" 2001??

StuartD 01-20-2009 06:00 AM

Anyway, I do think that Bush has had little to do with the safety on American soil. All the hype was little more than fear mongering and rating grabs for media outlets.

1. It's not hard to keep people safe when nothing is threatening them.
2. The terrorists had already won. There's no need to try when the nation is so scared that they need to be told that a flock of geese bringing down a plane was probably not terrorist related.

You're confusing "citizen" with "civilian". Also, civilian contractors, journalists, etc. from America have actually died in Iraq.

I still don't count them. If I go to Iraq, I know what I'm getting myself into.
I wouldn't count on Bush or anyone else to keep me alive when I walk myself into a mine field. :2 cents:

OK my bad, I guess biological weapons attacks on newspapers and congressmen don't count as a terrorist attack.

I'm glad we went to Iraq.

Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1991; You should read what they did there. Between all of the people they slaughtered, killed, and looted, they also caused the largest environmental disaster of all time when they set fire to 600+ oil wells that didn't belong to them. On top of this, they surrendered, but continued to fire at us at will on a daily basis. That's an act of war; Fuck them.

I don't know what the current death toll is in Iraq. People look at that number and think it's huge but it's really not; A small amount of US troops did a huge amount of damage. We lost more men in a single day during WWII.

How about Israel unvading Gaza ?
How about the USA invading Iraq ?
How about the USA invading Afghanistan ?
How about the USA invading Smalia by proxy ( Ethiopian troops ) ?

Will any of those countries pay war damages like Germany, Japan and yes Iraq did ?

Military did maybe save you from jail but they did it at a cost of your thinking capabilities :2 cents:

Iraq went into Kuwait because the US was supplying Iraq AND their enemy with weapons and supplies. Neither side was winning though, so Iraq went to Kuwait to borrow more money to get the upper hand and when Kuwait asked to be repaid, Saddam used the money he borrowed and turned it on Kuwait itself.

Yes, it's horrific and yes it was an act of war. But hardly justifies what happens nearly 20 years later. What happened there was the result of a chain of events.
