Business: Flash Programmer Needed to Create Game App

I am shooting some interactive videos for a client who intends to make a small online game app out of it to use on his web site(s). I will be filming all the video clips according to a script with a few models doing different activities, and encoding them all into Flash videos. They asked me to find a programmer who can take the videos and create the Flash game app with all the programming, graphics and functionality similar to this Poker With Michelle game.

Please contact me if you have experience with this type of project only or if you have pre-existing modules that have some of this functionality. Obviously I don't want to recreate the wheel here and have someone who has never done something like this to spend weeks figuring it out. Please don't hit me up on icq but email me at Contact at ExclusiveRealityContent dot com with your name, company info, samples of your work and at least some rough estimated cost and time to completion for a game that has this similar functionality with five models' videos. I can provide a lot more details after I speak to the client again and do the initial shoots so you know what material you will be working with and how exactly they want to put it together.

is it going to be a shooting game gunning with gunn. hitting models with cumshots?lol

You're not reading the job desc correctly.

Most of the stuff in the job desc is for the monster.com search engine.

Action script and C/C++ carry almost identical syntax.

A decent C programmer will have action script running in no time flat.

This is a company that does not have a 2 week deadline and will hire someone
who can meet some of those requirements and they don't really expect to
get someone with all the skills listed.

Some of the skills listed will not even be used by the company. They only list the
skill because they know they can move that person into what they are doing
easily.

For example, if you need a perl programmer and none apply then hire a C/C++ programmer
and give him 3 days with a perl manual and end of story.

I am looking for a programmer who thinks they could handle it to tell me what something like the sample Flash game I pointed out would cost. I am filming the videos and coordinating the project which will be very similar to the example. I have never hired a programmer nor designed a Flash game myself, so I haven't the foggiest idea what this would cost or how long it would take. From what I hear most programmers take forever and often drop the ball anyway, but I at least have to try to find someone competent to do the job.

I know, I've never been in a situation in LA where the people doing the hiring didn't know jack shit about what they were getting themselves into, not really bothering to learn what skills were needed but their brother told them or something.

Sat a programmer down and told him to "do it" ... use him up and three months later just put the add backup and hire another victim to hack the crap code that's already been fucked up by the 15 nit wits before him ... :1orglaugh

Alrighty then. Thanks
Good luck to the OP :thumbsup

And then what would they do with it? I am not sure the client would care since I think they will be encouraging people to re-post the Flash game anyway as a promotional tool.

doridori 01-19-2009 10:23 PM

basically they will take your code and make their own shit. or worse they will remove all backlinks to your site, and just use it on their domain, without you knowing about it.

Okay then- who knows how to copy the code from that Poker With Michelle game and modify it for what my client wants to do? Should save some time and lower the quote if it's that easy, right? :winkwink:

Seriously though, this isn't rocket science for a Flash programmer. Someone should be able to use that example as a guide and make this game with the videos I am filming. The programmer will be given all the videos already encoded in Flash and a flowchart on how to put it together. Anyone know any programmers they recommend?

brandonstills 01-19-2009 10:29 PM

Hit me up on ICQ. I've been doing a lot of flash programming recently.

yup there are tools that easily decodes any .swf files....like it will reveal actionscript source as well as any graphics, sounds, movies you've used.

Unless you have the rights to reverse engineer something and use it, that would be considered theft and copyright violation.

People who are satisfied with the programmer they hired usually don't come to the
board and make a 5 page drama thread about it.
So you are only reading about the bad ones.

yes. but this does happen. unfortunately very hard to prove if they only stole the source codes and changed stuff around. unless the game cost millions of dollars, its not worth going to court about.

Shhhhhhhh!

He's scraping vids from tubes and selling it so don't expect him to think about getting
sued or anything like that.

He only thinks about what he can do and not about what can be done to him for doing it.

I've read enough to know that you will get your ass in a tight sling one day.

Most likely for scraping the tubes and trying to sell it. :1orglaugh

But if not for that, I'm sure you will continue to think you are slick until you cross
the wrong program.

It always happens that way.

See ya!!

Still looking for a Flash programmer. The client is paying me several grand to shoot, edit and encode the videos, I just need a Flash programmer who can handle the project. Is there really no one with this skill looking for work?

So how did the game turn out.

Here's mine. http://ooaz.com/ooaz/poker.html

I skipped the "srtip" video thing because I think hosted flvs make more sense.

Just curious how the cheaper programming did the game.

Sorry I didn't get that job.

Next time maybe.

Ozarkz 03-15-2009 09:34 PM

Edit: nm old thread.

I think that the game came out great. http://allxclubstrippoker.com/. The video clips that I filmed are synced up with the game playing so that when you win hands the models get more and more naked. When you get them completely stripped down you are rewarded with some hi-res photos of the girls. I also like the card playing action on the animation and the customized designs on the cards. I love producing cool projects like this one for companies who need unique projects executed.

That did work out good.

Obviously I did things differently but I didn't have the video content so I decided to
make my game as a ad tool using hosted flvs.

Here's the game that almost killed me!

http://ooaz.com/ooaz/wheeloff.html

I thought this would be the easiest game of all.
Maybe easy for somebody, but it sent me climbing the walls to make it work.
