Go Daddy security team identified suspicious behavior
Got below email in my mail this morning, i was thirst thinking it was one of those catchy emails where you get scammed... :) but no it was true. Around 6000 accounts have been changed, during a outside attack on the godaddy account panels. There is a chance you get one of those below emails to.
By any means, i am not a Godaddy hater, and the phone support was a rather positive guy. But i hate waking up with emails like this, they make my skin crawl. Dear ********** , You are receiving this email because a change has been made to your GoDaddy.com account. On January 14, 2009, the Go Daddy security team identified suspicious behavior regarding customer order information. Any and all access to that information was restricted immediately. As a precaution, we have issued you a new LoginID/Customer Number. Please note that all of your domains, hosting accounts, and other products will be fully functional in that new account. Important: Your password and your credit card information were never at risk, but your name, physical address, email address, phone number and numerical customer number may have been exposed. Please note that we have not identified a single incident or problem associated with the suspicious behavior we detected. Please contact a Go Daddy customer service representative at (480) 505-8855 or by email at [email protected] to activate your new ID. Nothing else is required. ------------ Nothing else is required? I needed to remind me that 4 digit code for them to verify me being me, and i am a legit costumer. Lucky after time 9 i had the right code. The person on the other end was probably smiling, no coffee yet here, dont ask Harry to remind a 4 digit :) |
yep, this happened to me too. besides having to wait on the phone for 20 minutes, it was all good. glad to see they are pro active about this kind of thing. i even got a phone call the next day about it.

I am a Godaddy hater. I don't think anything they could do now days could make up for the bullshit they've put me through unnecessarily. Good choice for newbs perhaps, terrible choice for anyone with a clue.

Woah that's pretty bad, but I can't believe people still use them after all the horror stories years after years...
|
I know a lot of people that do because godaddy does everything they can to make sure that its hard as hell to move domains away from them.

Actually moving from godaddy is super easy - I transferred domains from godaddy to namecheap within 5 hours,... now, aplus to elsewhere? 7 days wait.
I am trying to consolidate all domains with moniker, will take a couple of months until I'm able to though. (renewals and 60 days wait) |
I love GD :D!
