Looking for new server

I receive this e-mail from servage:

We have noticed that your account is using many server resources
at the moment. The last hours your account has had 301190
requests for your site which is quite allot. We will have to ask
you take measures to lower the load or we may be forced to temporarily
suspend your website.

We hope that we do not need to take such drastic measures but
it may be necessary to ensure good performance for other
customers on the cluster. I'm sure that you understand our
commitment to provide the best possible service to all customers.

I'm satisfied with servage, but now it's time for me to take a new step.
I need a server that allows at least 1-2 million hits a day for my new website
Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Time for a dedicated. You have outgrown a shared server.

Sly 01-18-2009 03:58 PM

I would talk to Bridgette at Phat Servers.

Joesho 01-18-2009 04:36 PM

At least talk to Dan, at www.rackco.com

He is awesome at service and I have had zero down time EVER been with him for a couple years now.

If you are shopping for a host now already. Then do yourself a favor and do not take anyone else's advice at face value.

We are all partial to our own host most likely.

Many will kiss ass also, as they know their host will see this thread and see them give them a "BRO" shout out. ( they owe it to them for all the drinks bought for them by the host over the years LOL)

You should take the suggestions and then compile a list and talk to those companies direct to see what is a good fit and comfortable to you.:2 cents:

you dont need a dedicated right away. i would suggest using http://linode.com and use a VPS if you are transitioning from shared hosting. however if you require lot of bandwith 1TB and up, its cheaper to consider unmanaged dedicated hosting.

Ahh yes, another satisfied Servage customer.

Okay listen carefully here... you've got everyone and their dog flogging dedicated boxes. Trust me, you don't need dedicated, Servage is an underpowered piece of shit that couldn't handle a traffic spike if it's life depended on it.

Get a decent virtual solution and save your cash, until you actually need that kind of power. I run 700K traffic a month through my virtual account and there is STILL no complaints from my provider and uptime is rock solid. I log into my box and check the CPU utilization every now and again, and it's just fine.

Then again if you've got more money than brains, then by all means, let the sweet talking guys in here get you into a dedicated solution right quick.

Shaze 01-25-2009 12:42 AM

Follow this link and you'll never regret it -> http://www.techiemedia.net

~23k hits a day for you(from what you stated above) compared to his 1 to 2 million a day is a big difference. and maybe your virtual was setup on a new server with not to many customers. just wait until they start filling the box your on with customers and they start contacting the one's who are taking up the most resources when the loads start to get high. it's a pain when it comes to that point. better to start off the right way then have to deal with headaches later when your host contacts you.
