What do you all use?
I often come across clips that fail to play and complain about a codec.
I've tried to download many codec packs none of which work i just end up with spyware :1orglaugh

Install VLC and your problems will be gone. WMP is a piece of shit, as is QuickTime Player.

Another vote here for VLC...

I not only use it myself, but I even recommend it on my site for those paying to download MPG videos, and are having trouble with WMP...

I install the k-lite codec packs that seem to work with several formats.
The media player that comes with the full version seems pretty universal, though I haven't tried all formats.
