Webair can not meet the minimum requirements to run Magento on their virtuals. Here are the requirements: http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements.

I'm not sure if I want a virtual just for this test with Magento or if I want to leave Webair entirely but I'm looking to at least be able to install Magento by the end of the day so spam your hosting company of choice if they can run it.

Have a look at www.phatservers.com

From your post I don't know what to expect. Do they meet the requirements? Do you know?

selena 01-18-2009 09:54 AM

I run magento on phatservers on a dedicated server. It would be worth it to ask them about virtuals.

SmokeyTheBear 01-18-2009 09:55 AM

most virtuals are going to run into a few problems as far as default setups with a few of magnetos requirements

Safe_mode off
Memory_limit 32M or more

be sure 2 ask about those 2 things first

SmokeyTheBear 01-18-2009 09:57 AM

either way you are obviously going to sell something i assume , it would be well worth your money to use a dedicated host as far as speed etc , it should pay for itself

Yes, we support the requirements for this script on our virtual plans. This script, as well as osCommerce, is included in Installatron on all virtual and shared plans for auto-installation.

Regarding these two specific requirements...

Safe_mode off = Yes, this is done on a per domain basis
Memory_limit 32M or more = Memory limit is already set above this

My ICQ is 5 6 0 5 4 8 9 5 if you have more questions.

If you are willing to pay anything more than monopoly money for your hosting then you need to check out cyberwurx, phatservers, nationalnet, isprime, mojohost to name a few.

You get what you pay for ... simple as that.

You can run whatever you want on a dedicated .... so this is a useless post.
You can run Magento on a dedicated from Webair as well ...

:2 cents:.

I posted an offer in the other thread started, no point in repeating myself.

So it was a worthless post.

To you.

Perhaps not to someone like me, who isn't server brilliant, and wants to know what hosting companies will quickly go over things with them to make sure that they have what they need to get up and running.

:2 cents:

Actually I just want to design a theme. I will not be operating a commerce site.
