So in a plane crash, what happens to your stuff?

in the recent water landing in NY by US Airways, im curious to know what will happen to your stuff thats aboard the plane.

i know you should be thankful that you have your life, dont get me wrong but im wondering what happens to your carry on and checked baggage. assuming in this case, its ruined for the most part, who pays and what do you have to do to prove you had stuff?

It is why you click YES on the cross sell for INSURANCE when you book your ticket - or, just book your ticket with your Platinum Amex and you are covered ;-)

I'd love to see a pic of that.

They can salvage the luggage but it will obviously be water damaged. The Hudson isn't exactly prestine.

insurance bro
insurance..............................[COLOR="White"]lots and lots of insurance claims are about to happen over the next few days besides the basic insurance that the airline has and that is limited to 1250.00 USD as far as i know.

I thought that everything "they" (the govt) find gets put into some big plane crash warehouse for all of eternity. Could be wrong though. I would think US Airways would be reimbursing people too. You know, a "we almost killed you, here's some money, sorta thing".

I'm sure the airline will pay for losses.

You might have to produce some kind of proof if
it's a big ticket item.

You're not too bright are you?
Its a life and death situation! fuck your stuff!

I heard one of the survivors today on the radio, he had stripped down to his underwear in case he had to swim. I'd say his mindset was survive at all cost.
As it turned out they had rescue boats there real quick.
