So the Plane crash was Really no ones fault. How much will they pay?

Who will win?

Rice_Master 01-16-2009 08:43 AM

the people on board should just be thankful that they're alive.

Of course they should and in any other country they would be. But with the tough financial times I see some BIG law suits..

Yup, anyone pushing the envelope to sue si a lowlife douche bag and I'm pretty sure another accident will be waiting for them.

Tom_PM 01-16-2009 08:59 AM

They flew into a flock of geese or something.. those things are huge, and there was enough of them to clog both engines.

ive always thought planes had 4 engines, and thats why they say planes can "run on 2"

Well then they should have had more engines.

:)

Tom_PM 01-16-2009 09:01 AM

This one was of the variety with 2 engines under the wings near the cabin or whatever. So they were also the first things to it the water. Pretty amazing "landing" in that it didnt snag and flip itself into a million pieces.

They CAN fly on 2, but this plane was taking off which requires full thrust they can get, they were probably real close to the ground when this happened.

Oh SNAP.. Your most likely right..
Hope someone got that on video.

Scott McD 01-16-2009 09:12 AM

This vid shows a plane hitting a single bird on take off.

If that's what one bird could do, then yeah i could believe flying into a flock of geese could cause some rather large problems... :upsidedow

xxweekxx 01-16-2009 09:15 AM

No sir..

Most airbuses have only 2 engines

Only their bigger models have 4 engines..like A380 so that airplane def had 2 engines

The popular 4 engine airplane is boeing 747 series

come to think of it.. there arent many airplanes with 4 engines.. There are MORE airplanes with 2 engines..

That pilot did an amazing job in that video.. If any of you know how to fly then you what what a fight it was just to keep the Yaw under control.

tammix 01-16-2009 10:07 AM

if someone sues they are fucking mother bastards. Instead, they should thank the pilot (and pay him each one at least $100,000) for smart decisions to have all passangers alive. America now has a good hero, Yahoo ran it as main story this morning with that hero angle, good way to honor him and all the pilots with courage.

John-ACWM 01-16-2009 10:15 AM

Yup,saw it again on the news, they say it was a flock of geese. They also say the captain is a hero

From what he was able to do, I would have to agree. He did an amazing job putting that thing down without rolling it or flipping it.

seeandsee 01-16-2009 10:47 AM

they should get money ;)

JP-pornshooter 01-16-2009 10:57 AM

props to the captain to keep a cool head and put down the bird in the drink.

the most critical point in a flight is take off and the intial 20 seconds after lift off, the aircraft needs the most thrust to climb out, engine failure at this stage is critical however passenger jets are designed to be able to still maintain level flight or even still climb out on one engine, however it takes a very competent pilot to control the plane in the moment the one engine fails, the thrust is no longer symmetrical so the plane has a strong tendency to roll over and crash.
in case with all engines out, the pilot only has one choice, find a place to make the crash landing the least volatile and this guy did a great job at that.

By the time it's over those airline exec's are going to wish the fucker just killed everyone.

Fat Panda 01-16-2009 12:45 PM

its was an act of god, no lawsuit

mynameisjim 01-16-2009 12:48 PM

Airlines have insurance against crashes. There is a fund they can pay people from and this will never go to court.
