What to do with old Electronic gadgets? Old cellphones, dig cameras, gaming consoles, printers, pcs etc..they been sitting here for years collecting dust and not even sure if i can give them away. Im thinking of just tossing everything out. |
sell them on ebay for pennies? |

Well to save some environmentalist some time. They are pretty toxic to just toss. Though the recycling centers are not a whole lot better as many just sell the crap to shithole countries. |
I give them to the Salvation Army |

I have no clue on the best approach. Apparently there was a place in Colorado that you paid to take old electronics and then they were on the news for dumping them in a toxic China dump. I took a few old TVs, printers, computer cases and whatnots to Good Will, which they just threw into bins. Instead of paying to take it off my hands, I got a blank donation receipt and all that stuff will probably end up in China toxifying some small village regardless. |

We have a very large recycling ten miles from my house. They make money off of this, yet they want me to pay them to recycle stuff. Fuck that shit. I take my cardboard to the library where they take it for free, and it benefits my local library. For cans, plastic, newspaper, and glass - I have bins for those and once a month we take a trip to the a local recycling center. We usually walk away with $50 a month for our shit. Half of it we give to our daughter, whom we take out shopping directly after the trip to the recycling center. The other half goes into a bank account for her. Let's see - I can spent $30 a month for them to haul it away, or I can make $50 a month off of it. Isn't that just stupid? |

 garbage! |

My city does have a drop off that takes e-crap for free. Not sure if you asked your city dump yet. |
 Salvation Army FTW |
I bring them to the shooting range. They make nice targets. As for cell phones, this place pays for cell phones. |
it depends, if the gadget has any memory that can lead back to me I smash, shoot or blow the fucker up. if not I send it to the landfill. no i dont give a shit about the environment |

For larger items, take them out to the desert and drag behind your car. For smaller items, fire is always an option. |

The charities around here refuse to accept electronic devices, although they will accept some electrical goods such as fridges. For the moment I'm just stockpiling everything, hoping that my 14.4k ISA modem card will gain a cult following and super value in 10 years time. :1orglaugh |

Put it back in the origanal packaging and store it for 25 years |

Here's a few things to do I found at google. 1. Donate the computer to a worthy cause. 2. Look for an eWaste roundup in your area. 3. Computers for School is a non profit which will collect your old PC and get it to a needy, and underfunded education program. 4. Dell Computer has a recycling program where they will take any computer off your hands and either donate them or dispose of them properly. 5. Sell it on eBay. |

I make a trek to this river like 5-10min walk, it is a good workout, carry your PC down and just chuck it in the river. you get some cardio and some weight lifting done win win imho. |

 Give them away! |
One of my regulars when I had my deli ran a place that did electronics recycling. He made a killing breaking down other people's junk. |
I honestly tossed them. I put an old x box Kodak printing dock, mini camera and otu them out. I didn't want to hassle beyond my front door. Wires and software |
I give them to my teenager, he takes them apart and sees what makes them tick. Leftover LCDs make neat flashlights when strung together right. That kind of stuff. |
There was a thing on the news here a few months back about people who gave their computers to certain charities, thinking they were going to a good cause. When infact they ended up in places like Nigeria, and the fuckers were using the details stored in the computers to steal money from them. I destroy, and bin almost everything now. If that's the thanks you get for trying to do some good... :disgust |
You can hack them into cool shit, like a digital camera can be easily hacked into a stun gun. Then you can electrify a motherfucker. Old electronics = fun! just search the web for things to do with it. . . |
