The real problem with the tubes is...

... that they change the mindset of people.

I could not care less if the licensed content gets devalued by giving it to the surfers for free.

But even for webmasters it is difficult to see if a tube site is legit or not. Doesn't matter anyway if a tube site is legit or not.
Years ago, things were clear: an mgp gallery was run by a webmaster who promoted something. But in the era of web 2.0 and torrents, lines start to blur. Surfers' view of the online adult content will change. And signup rates will drop.

I don't know who said it, but this quote is one you should think about:
"Free is a whole different place". We don't want to go there.

the porn industry will implode because the tube sites .. :(

Illegal torrents and tube sites are changing the market value of content by reducing its scarcity first and foremost. And when its no longer scarce any more it's suddenly not important or valuable enough to pay for any more.

I made this post before.. but I'll summarize.

There is nothing at all wrong with the tube concept it's self.. The problem is businesses and webmasters have embraced the bad side of the tube format.. Meaning the word "Tube" has become synonymous with the word "Free".

Let's face it tube sites can be a very good way of dilivering content, but people should really be pushing "legal" membership tubes that offer paid for content.. This could be a Porn paysite or a music video streaming site, ect..ect.

I mean think if HBO or Showtime offered tube sites which allowed you to view their movies on demand. You don't think people would pay a subscription for that? There are many concepts along this line of thinking that could probably work, but we need to over come the "Tube = Free" mindset..

Almost of the surfers go online for free of everything.

The real problem is actually that the tubes supply anything a surfer could want in an entire market segment: quick, non-specific porn.

Tube sites offer immediate gratification, and offer a bigger selection of hardcore porn than most paysites. If a surfer isn't looking for anything specific, and wants something to look at right away, the tubes fill his needs entirely.

Unfortunately, this greatly damages the supply of non-specific impulse sales. If a surfer really wants something very specific (like a model or a niche), paysites are still a good option. If he just wants something quick to wank it to, tube sites beat paysites.

I just noticed a hot model and I went to a tube put her name in and watched a few videos of her. You don't think surfers are doing that?
