fuck computer speakers... buy REAL speakers... hook your shit up to an AMP, and pipe it through some Bose speakerage...

you will not regret it.

frankfortuna 11-13-2002 11:50 PM

Computer speakers aside, I am quite happy with my Martin Logan Aerius I's.

As far as power is concerned, the Canadians make the best bang for the buck in my opinion - Bryston. The 20 year warranty is also a nice touch.

eru 11-13-2002 11:51 PM

I don't have $500 to spare right now for the bose gaming speakers.

Perhaps this will interest you. Sony makes a whole line of small home theater sysems. The DAV-S300 is discontinued, but can be found on eBay for under $300.

eru 11-13-2002 11:58 PM

You know what?

Klipsch will owe me $360 if I refund. I'll shell out the rest and get the Bose.

iwantchixx 11-14-2002 12:03 AM

Bose is garbage. It's built just like sony speakers. Just utter cheap crap. And they make their amplification circuits to work only on weird impedences. SO you have to fork over 90 bux for a replacement 3 inch midrange (speaking from experience). The only thing about Bose that is any good is their cabinets. Thus I'd only buy a bose if it was normal 8 ohm loaded drivers. And then replace them with Pradigm drivers. MUCH better sound. As far as computer speakers go. Get a set of Alesis Monitor One's. Get a pair used for about 300. Then get a 100x2 watt power amp. And voila. Totaly transparent sound. The same speakers recording studio's have used for years.

I NEED COMPUTER SPEAKERS. I DONT WANT TO SPEND MORE THAN $500. WHAT SHOULD I BUY?

I AM REALLY PISSED OFF.

The right channel works fine but the left channel comes and goes.

are you on fucking crack?

what fucking speakers did you buy?
ALL my Bose are 4 and 8 ohm impedence. This is a 'weird' impedence? I think not.

eru 11-14-2002 12:22 AM

Okay, I think I fixed the problem. The input to the computer was kind of jiggly so I corrected that but If I have the problem again then I refund.

AMP -> do those $500 free style bose speakers have good bass for goa and techno songs?

The site makes no mention of a subwoofer.

bass is solid, but I strongly recommend you invest in a good sub....

Maybe is hould have stated that i was refering to proffesional grade speakers and not just consumer grade. Such as the acoustimas series, their mid/high drivers are 10 ohm. Their subwoofers are 12 ohm. And lemme tell ya, finding a 12 ohm 12 inch 500 watt rms sub at 12 ohms is hard. Especialy when it has to be able to take a double bass durm kick and my old 5 string bass all night. costs 450 bux to get a refurbished sub.

Seaz 11-14-2002 12:45 AM

i wont go into some long speach but my klipsch 5.1 are the best speakers i ever got. :thumbsup

eru 11-14-2002 01:56 AM

What Klipsch needs to do in future speakesr is make the connecters less troublesome. They should just have a plug that goes into your subwoofer from the satellites instead of these four scrawny wires.

I've had the Altec Lansing ATP3's for a while. I was surprised by their quality cause Altec Lansing normally sucks. But these are good, listen to them in a store if you can. The bass is nice, and Sounds good on "The Ultimate Bass Test" mp3. For the price, it's real good. I paid like $90 CDN last year for them.

But we used to have Klipsh 4.1 speakers at the office, BLASTED them for over a year, never had a problem. Hooked it up to PCs, PS2, XBox, no problems at all.

eru 11-14-2002 12:18 PM

As I said before, Klipsch needs to upgrade their wiring.

On my first set up Promedia 2.1's the that area on the rear of the subwoofer where you plug in the cord that powers the satellites (not the four wires that give them sound but the one big circular cord) started becoming very loose. I had to keep jiggling the cord in the socket to get the satellites to work. Eventually the connector broke off.

amp, we're not all rich like you :(

RedShoe 11-14-2002 12:26 PM

I like Bose. It's way out of our price range for audio. We've never really been that into sound. So for us our cheap Sony surround sound is fine for most applications.

Ok, I like Bose... that said, one (non-bose) salesman once told me, "No highs? No lows? It's gotta be BOSE"
