delay of digital tv

Just heard on the news Obama wants to delay digital tv by a couple months

if you ask me that is a very different technology view than what he tried to present on the campaign.

More than likely do to the backlog and waiting list for the government issued coupons to fix peoples rabbit ear antennas. Which I think there is a message there to many who think so many are up to date or will not scrimp for 40.00

Those commercials have been driving me nuts for a year... let's end it already!

wtf! People still using rabbit ears? :1orglaugh

Do I need a box if I have cable without a box?

camgirlshide 01-08-2009 07:04 PM

best way to push them along is to cut the cord

The coupon is keeping the prices of the boxes artificially high too. Get rid of the coupons, box price will go down lower.

Finally, tv is not a necessity. If they can't afford a $50 box they should be doing something else with their free time to figure out how to make money anyway instead of watching tv.

Enough people so that everyone ran out of the coupon cards and now there is a waiting list. Which means a fuckload of people.

no, but you can count on your cable company delivring less and less analog content over that cable line as time goes on to encourage you to get a more expensive package from them.

I had a gut feeling that there would be a big problem when the switch happened. I bet a lot of people use rabbit ears around the country and the thing with digital, you either get a perfect picture or nothing. So everyone in rural areas who watches a snowy picture will probably get no signal at all.

Don't forget, the economy is tough and cable, at least for me, is over $100/month.

You Are forgetting about the millions of retired people that live on a very fixed income which is often times not enough to begin with... we could go back and forth and say that it's their own fault for not making enough money, but in the end, how can we screw these people with very limited budgets out of what is most likely their only source of entertainment? TV isn't a necessity, but for some people, it's all they have...

Old grandma with no tv, death rates will soar
