Wacom Tablet - Bamboo or Intuos?

I was going to buy an Intuos tablet - then when I told a friend I was getting the Intuos he asked me why I wanted the Intuos. I told him I figured it was better than the Bamboo since it's more expensive. I asked him what the difference was between the two models - he said that the Bamboo has more of a drawing on paper feel. That's what I want. So any tablet users can verify what he said?

thanks

How much do you want to spend?

I have the Bamboo Fun tablet, and it works fine. Used to have an Intuos and it worked just as well. I'm going to be getting a Cintiq soon, so these others will become obsolete.

The Bamboo works just fine for me. Yes it's more of a paper feel and the I think the Intuos feels like a smooth dry-erase board.

Never tried the bamboo but I made the mistake of getting the largest size Intuos they have and I wish I got a smaller one. It's hard to fit it on a desk and I have to move my arm too much.

price isn't much of an issue - it would be if i was going to buy a Cintiq but i don't want/need a Cintiq. The feel is important though - i'd rather have the feel of drawing on paper. Seems like people are saying Bamboo does have more of a paper feel than Intuos.

thanks for the replies so far.

Pretty much all Wacom tablets "feel" the same. It would come down to a size & price issue. For my needs, the On-Screen drawing is important, which is why I'm upgrading to the Cintiq. Other than that, Bamboo is good, but the size is a little limiting. You can get larger Intuos, but price is a bit more.

i got my girl a cintiq for xmas, i've never used a tablet but that thing fuckin rocks

it is really smooth and being able to see what you're drawing on the actual tablet is killer.. as far as feel... when its calibrated right to me its just like using a pen

I have had a few of the older Wacom tablets and now have a Bamboo. That's a nice little tool for under $100.

Cintiq the best!

Go for bamboo

I have all generations of wacom man.
There is no doubt that bamboo is a revolution, and also much cheaper. What makes Intuos different is the special pens u can use (like ones with soft pointers), but it's completely dismisseable .
Bamboo do a great role, go for that!
;)
