Will a PS2 play regular DVDs?

yes they do - i heard with some models that playing dvds in them shorten their life span... but ive had mine playing them for 4plus years now without a problem... it might be getting dirty inside thus making some disvcs harder to read???

but i recently upgraded to an xbox 360 and the quality it puts out is far more quality than what the ps2 renders to tv...

Thanks again all. I don't play games on my PS2 anymore, so playing DVDs is handy.

I also have a Wii but I've been told they don't play DVDs at all.
