Ebay : Never edit your listing.

Everytime I post a sell on ebay and edit the listing the item dissapears from the listing
for a long time.

Don't ever edit it in the last hours of the sale you will lose money for sure.

Sucks.

I don't see why they do it that way.

Sure, but you can't change what's already there.

I wanted to edit a typo and could not do it.
I could only add an explanation of the typo.

Not much chance of a bait and switch like that and any attempt is recorded
right their in full.

sortie 01-08-2009 12:10 PM

Plus if no one had bid then it should make no difference on what you change.

Ebay sucks in general nowadays.

I hardly ever use it now, yet used it loads in the past...

Yeah, the site blows but I can still dump a few things there.

There is not that much competition for ebay that I know of.

I think they changed their fees for the better though.
I have to read it again but looks like sellers no longer get killed for having a
high reserve. I've paid $50 in fees for one item that didn't sell in the past
because I had a high reserve.

eBay's changes in policy in the last year has been terrible. When a good alternative shows up, they will take a considerable portion of the market.

Most notably sellers being unable to leave negative feedback for idiot buyers is a terrible decision.

Ebay has always been too pro buyer and that's resulted in stuff that made me not
use the site very much.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 01-08-2009 01:46 PM

I was on ebay very early on in its history, but I closed both my ebay and PayPal accounts after the most recent round of fuckery. They're so far from what they were in the beginning and what they were supposed to be all about that it's just sad.

DutchTeenCash 01-08-2009 01:49 PM

exactly

the no negative feedback sucks, you gotta be able to tell everyone a transaction went wrong for whatever reason and post it - to protect others doing biz

Farang 01-08-2009 02:22 PM

yeah, and never pay through WE :2 cents:

tiger 01-08-2009 05:22 PM

eBay is fucking garbage so is fucking paypal.

When a buyer would give a seller negative feedback...the seller would then give the buyer negative feedback on spite to make himself look good. Then you were able to go back and forth a couple of times and post on the issue. Buyers had complained about this retalliation feedback...in fact many buyers got screwed by sellers since they were now afraid to give a neg. back. I purchase traffic on Ebay...did not get 1 hit...never gave neg. feedback due to this issue.

What sucks is they made this new policy change after some motherfucker gave me the buyer a negative feedback...just because I was honest and gave him negative feedback. Think about this you watched an auction for a whole week for a domain name that you were already planning to develope...after you win the auction at a good price...pay with pay pal...just have someone email you and tell you that...oh sorry my partner already sold it earlier to someone else....and just refunded your money. I was so pissed stayed home from work just to win this auction...since it was ending during work hours. What really happend is this asshole sold it for more money to someone else...once he found out someone was willing to pay more then the auction ended at. Motherfucker ruined my 100% positive feedback.

I am mostly a seller but you are telling the truth.

These things absolutely happened to buyers like yourself.

But it went both ways. If you left feedback first then you were at the mercy of the
other party to leave feedback; whether seller or buyer.

This made the system useless because if you left the first feedback then it had to
be positive or you could bet your life on a rebuttal.

Evidently the planners of ebay never considered this basic logic.

collegeboobies 01-08-2009 09:35 PM

If you sell on Ebay I can get you some extra cash for every item you list

It does go in favor of the buyer practically all the time.sold a few things and most were no problems ,some would actually wear and damage the product and complain and get their loot back.all they do is state item not as described and make up anything

HandballJim 01-08-2009 09:51 PM

Yeah it seems lately you have a lot of people trying to take advantage of a situation...and the honest guy will have no choice but to also change his ways.

Anyways Ebay is dried up for selling domains at the moment, page views are down and only cheap skates looking for deals.

Ebay was fun when it was more about collecting something no one had...you would be able to find it listed on Ebay. Now you have a ton of million dollar companies flooding all the listings with replica copies of junk. Like someone had posted that another auction site could pop up with more bells and whistles and take over this niche online.

OverdueNudes 01-09-2009 01:29 AM

In the "last hours of the sale" you cant even edit your listing.

StaceyJo 01-09-2009 02:10 AM

Oh that's not good. Thanks for the heads up.

bobby666 01-09-2009 03:01 AM

ebay is so 2008

sarad 01-09-2009 03:07 AM

I used to be a total ebay addict, I haven't even looked at the site for months now - used to buy and sell a lot but now it seems to be full of cheap fake crap, rather than great bargains like the "good ole days" I remember selling websites for $300-400 now you would be lucky to get $30!

tranza 01-09-2009 06:03 AM
