Who doesn't get sick in VEAGS?

Im batting like 100% coming home from vegas sick. like CLOCKWORK every year. I try and spend time outside to breathe but its always cold so were stuck indoors breathing everyones re processed air. I have tried eveyrthing. Been on healthiest diets ever and come home with the sweats. Vegas is just crused. I feel sorry for all you peeps stuck there for all the shows. After 3 nights I would jump out my window but can never open them

Fletch XXX 01-07-2009 04:44 PM

you can be as healthy as you want, but if you go there to drink for days and destroy your body your eating habits wont stop you from negating your immune system while your body fights off the alcohol you poison yourself with. has nothing to do with vegas, just what people do there.

collegeboobies 01-07-2009 04:46 PM

I dont get sick in Vegas

Phoenix 01-07-2009 04:48 PM

i went to the spa each day last year..for about 45 minutes...just to get chill time in..and relax...didnt get sick:)

also...not partying till 8am 3 days in a row helps..lol

baddog 01-07-2009 04:48 PM

Don't recall any show I came home sick from.

CarlosTheGaucho 01-07-2009 04:48 PM

Feeling bad for a day or two, but it's two 18 to 20 hour flights / reverse jetlag plus a massive lack of sleep during the stay alltogether, so I always need up to 48 hours to sleep it off and recover.

But yeah, the air is kind of weird, pretty tough to get a decent sleep and it's pretty dry too.

XPays 01-07-2009 04:49 PM

i got sick last week instead so i should be fine

LauraLee 01-07-2009 04:58 PM

I have definitely come home sick, but the couple years that has happened, it seemed a good portion of the show attendees were sick already and passing it around. Anywhere you have air being recycled + lots of people you are going to have a higher risk (think casinos and planes).
All you can do it take the most productive steps to avoid it. Shaking hands, handling money and gambling chips, hand rails and elevator buttons... Consider everything you come in contact with to be gross, so wash your hands whenever you can. When you can't that is what the purell is for and don't be afraid to use it. Lastly, drink lots of water and consume fruits/veggies whenever possible (vitamins help keep the immune system strong).
All that being said, there are going to be times you just can't avoid it, but you can damn sure cut your chances down.

TheAmericanCannibal 01-07-2009 04:59 PM

If you don't drink and stay out til 6am u will be fine

All the people sharing $100 dollar bills to snort coke come home with Staph , strep, and the "crud"

Also passing joints is a great way to get sick
If you got em, don't share em

Smoke your own!

My theory is that people have different "strains" of maladies in their particular geographical location. In other words, a guy coming in with a slight case of the common cold from Japan is gonna make somebody from Austin, Texas or St. Paul, Minnesota get sick as shit because they don't have any immunity to the slight variation.

So when you get a big mixture of people from all over the world in the casinos in Las Vegas, you're gonna get sick.

You can definitely improve your chances of not getting sick by keeping your immune system strong while in Vegas. Best way to do that is to immediately find me. Turn over all of your drugs to me. Then, if you are a male....do not attend any of the parties. For females it's okay. All the men should stay locked securely in their rooms. And since females physiology is different, they will need to drink lots and lots of alcohol and partake in all the confiscated drugs. The men should get plenty of sleep to keep well, while the ladies should stay out with me all night.

Since I now live in Vegas, I am immune to this phenomenon.

Martin 01-07-2009 07:19 PM

I've heard people say that before. I think it's just the amount of people you come in contact with. Not much you can do about it, but wash your hands every hour or so. lol

Insomniak 01-07-2009 08:32 PM

Boost your immune system before going with Echinacea.
Wash hand often.
Drink lots of OJ and vitamin C.
Don't lick the slot machines ;)

Brad Mitchell 01-07-2009 09:10 PM

I think I was the only one to not get sick last January... very lucky.

This year I am hoping I've already been through the worst the last several weeks......

Brad

Brad Mitchell 01-07-2009 09:11 PM

See, the problem is that all the bros are banging the hoes and not washing their hands. That's REALLY why everyone gets sick at Internext.

LOL

Brad

I think it must be a show thing. I got sick as a dog at ATL forum didnt make it the last day.I totally lost my voice.
Probably carrying a shitload of hand sanitizer would help.

Spunky 01-07-2009 09:57 PM

It's all those Canadians and the recycled air :)

Monique Niccole 01-07-2009 10:20 PM

I'm on an Airborne regimen and I've stocked up on hand sanitizer to prepare myself.

No Vegas-crud for me!

brassmonkey 01-07-2009 10:27 PM

96ukssob 01-07-2009 10:36 PM

Thurbs 01-07-2009 10:40 PM

Ditto. Wash your hands frequently. Carry some wipes with you or Purell. Wash your hands before eating. Don't wear the same clothes day after day. Have the hotel laundry clean them for you. Practice safe sex. Call your mother to let her know you have arrived safely.

same here, I've been having a great time

PersianKitty 01-08-2009 05:19 AM

I'd heard about the convention crud so I prepared last year and didn't get sick.

B-12 and either airborne or Emergen-C for several days before, during and after. Lots of hand washing/hand sanitizer during. Lots of water.

But then.. I can't recall the last time I was really really sick either. When my kids were young I seemed to get sick all the time, even when they weren't. Had some rotten colds and stuff over the years. In the last 5 years, I don't think I've been sick at all, even when others in the household have had terrible bugs.

nah they sell combo wipey and rubber packs now LOL

todhunter 01-08-2009 11:20 AM

The last two years, I started each day with a handful of vitamin C (five or six grams) washed down with an Airborne. No other changes. Ate irregularly, drank to excess once or twice. No drugs to speak of, maybe a puff or two off a joint. Didn't get sick.

This year, I'm passing up Vegas entirely because my niece is getting married in Phoenix on Saturday. Extreme, but effective.:winkwink:

Gaaa .. I hate Vegas because of this exact reason .. I felt I was going to DIE ..had to stay an extra day last time we went just to be well enough to get out of bed to get to the airport ..

NaughtyRob 01-08-2009 12:05 PM

It just happens that the conventions are here right smack in the middle of the flu season, last year I was sick for 3 weeks after going to the Palms.

I actually had a post nuptual with my first marriage.

This one is against a prenup but that doesn't mean it won't happen anyway. We are looking at a late spring / early summer 2010 wedding so I have time to sneak one in. :winkwink:
