Papaya for Acid Refulx?

My acid reflux has been bothering me a lot lately and my gf's dad told me about Papaya extract to help calm the acid. Ive been trying it off and on, but ran out of my magic beans of Zantac so Im stuck with chomping on these things tonight to see if it works.

Anyone else try Papaya? Heard it helps on hairballs too

I went on a raw food diet and one great side effect was that it got rid of my acid reflux.

Really. Was it hard to switch your diet? I have acid reflux a lot and it hurts. I am willing to try a raw diet.

Try water fast.

I was on the Keto (ketogenic) diet for a while and noticed that took my acid reflux away quickly, but came back shortly after I stopped. I read that the fatty acids in almonds help calm the acid down, but that diet is nasty and expensive

Better off just adding a teaspoon or two of baking soda to a warm cup of water and drinking that. I have tried vinegar and it is only a temporary fix. Tried a variety of fruits and again same issue. Well that is until I got some medicine to cure my ulcer. Now when needed for out of the blue acid reflux or heartburn I go back to baking soda.

One of the most difficult and expensive diets I have ever gone on. Also the most effective. The acid reflux going away happened pretty quickly. To be honest I just realized one night that I had not had a Tums in a long time when I used to eat them nightly.

I wasn't on any named diet, I just stopped eating processed and cooked foods. Even when I went off the diet the acid reflux never returned. Of course, I go raw every once in a while when I want to lose weight.

Drink half a liter of water 30 minutes before you eat. Do not drink anything with your meals. Your stomach with thank you :thumbsup

Another benefit of giving up meat, as many will claim once you give that up and eat raw and natural foods, stuff like acid reflux goes away.

meat and animal products are heavily acidic...

Curious, do you consume alot of meat and animal products?

Tilting the meal plan in favor of plant foods and away from meat can enhance an acid reflux diet. If you need extra help controlling episodes of acid reflux try cutting back drastically on meat and processed foods until there is improvement. Even having a meat free day each week can be helpful. Try to expand this to a menu that is limited to about 20 percent meat and other high acid products.

As a vegetarian, i can say it will help.

Nexium works by not only fixing your acid reflex but also helps heal the area.
Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor which reduces gastric acid secretion through inhibition of H+/K+-ATPase in gastric parietal cells. By inhibiting the functioning of this enzyme, the drug prevents formation of gastric acid.
I use it and it works great. Here is the link to the web site http://www.purplepill.com

There is also a link on the web site for meals that can help reduce your acid

here is another piece of advise.. which has worked well for me.
eat yogurt for breakfast (make sure it has the live cultures)
exercise daily.. walking, running or biking etc.
sleep 7hrs or more every night.

I used to eat some meat, but now I hardly eat any. I have changed my diet a lot due to acid reflux. I eat a lot more raw foods. Even with medication I still had bad acid relux. I am also sending you an e-mail. I need some more galleries. I am just picking the pictures out now.

Hey man, it was nice meeting you!

Stop drinking and eating crap foods and it will work out. I had the same problem.

yeah i had it too, and when i stopped eating red meat (2 years before i became full vegetarian) I noticed it went down but I still had it (acid reflux) - then i gave up meat all together and it really seems to do away with it.

the things we (humans) put in our bodies, aside from dildos, tend to not agree with our digestion no matter what we do. But i know acid reflux sucks, and I only get mild touches of it if i eat too much red sauce, like spaghetti or pizza, but that is also probably due to the dough and the pasta pushing the acidy sauce up... anyhoo... good luck, i know it sucks.

Lately I've been trying apple cider vinegar to help with my acid reflux. It seems to be working so far, so you might want to look into it.
