Webmaster referral $$$

Almost 10 years in the adult industry I made like $10 bucks by referring other webmasters.

Is there anyone here who ever made any money by referring other webmasters?

PR_Sebas 01-05-2009 12:02 PM

I'm sure some of the guys/girls on GFY have made a bit of money. I haven't made much either.

Click SIG... works out very well for webmaster referral.

cybermike 01-05-2009 12:11 PM

Yep, I've made quite a lot of money from referrals.

I usually get at least $200/month, every single month, from referrals.

:2 cents:

See sig btw! :P

StuartD 01-05-2009 12:55 PM

I did alright with webmaster referrals once upon a time.

LauraLee 01-05-2009 12:59 PM

We have lots and lots of webmasters making extra cash on referrals.

John-ACWM 01-05-2009 01:36 PM

Zuzana Designs 01-05-2009 01:38 PM

Aquarius 01-05-2009 01:41 PM

spacedog 01-05-2009 03:23 PM

Webmaster referrals are stupid to do if you ask me. (unless your a large resources site)

For every webmaster that signs up, that's less money for me.

If there was a fucking pile of free money, would you refer your fucking friends and tell them where it is?

The more webmasters a program has pushing them, the lower your payout will be. :2 cents:

jscott 01-05-2009 03:24 PM

I make enough for a car payment every month :)

DaddyHalbucks 01-05-2009 03:58 PM

Like anything else, it depends how hard you work at it and how many years you put into it.

LiveDose 01-05-2009 03:59 PM

A couple of hundred a year for me. Drinking money.

EscortBiz 01-05-2009 05:47 PM

MissDiva 01-05-2009 06:03 PM

spacedog, you are right, we all know webmaster referrals are stupid to do, but most of us, we do it .

fallenmuffin 01-05-2009 06:08 PM

Each one of my CCBill checks has a "Partner Bonus" sub-affiliates I've signed-up. I've never attempted to sign anyone up under any CCBill sponsors. Yet, I get roughly $10-$25 a week in partner bonuses.

EthnicLover 01-05-2009 06:33 PM

Think about this for a second.

If your argument for not signing up webmasters is that you are creating your own competition then you are thinking very small.

For instance if a sponsor is fairly new/unknown then it would be in your and others best interests to sign up as many webmasters as possible so that you can get a small slice of a soon to be bigger pie (assuming the sponsor is good).

If you can capture 5-10% of many webmasters sales then does it really matter if more people are promoting the program?

Besides, even if someone signs up with you it doesn't mean they are going to promote the sites or make much money with them, thereby reducing overall competition.

You also never know if one of your referrals will be a person that sends a lot of sign ups. That means less work for you and more passive income.

I just checked for 2008 on the bigger proggies and it was ~$4500 so almost 400 bucks a month in 08.

evildick 01-05-2009 08:13 PM

I was making $2500 a month just off of cafepress.com referrals alone for quite a while. Then they decided out of the blue to change their TOS so that referral $ were only paid out for one year after each webmaster was initially referred.

Now my $2500 a month is around $170 a month, and it will obviously continue to go down as each referral hits their year limit.

Didn't seem right and I can't believe it was legal for them to do that.

MrDeiz 01-05-2009 08:30 PM

there're money in referrals )

not VERY big yet, but we have nice results on Signbucks Daily

SmokeyTheBear 01-05-2009 09:38 PM

SmokeyTheBear 01-05-2009 10:04 PM

You'd be right, had this been an industry with an extremely small number of webmasters and extremely limited information availability.

As it stands, however, you are entirely wrong. There are shitloads of webmasters, most with a relatively tiny piece of the traffic market. Chances of losing a sale to a webmaster you yourself referred are therefore extremely small.

Moreover, this being the internet and all, information spreads easily and quickly. If people don't know about a program now, they probably will in a few weeks if it's relevant to their traffic and the program owners know anything about marketing.

Hell, I'm pretty sure I could make a new program known to several thousands of webmasters within the span of a week without even trying hard.

So basically, people are probably going to find the program anyway. It might as well be you who gets the 5-10% commission on their sales :2 cents:

FreeHugeMovies 01-05-2009 11:32 PM

I've made over 100k from wm referrals =]

rayadp05 01-05-2009 11:56 PM

The affiliates to my paysite are doing very good by referring other webmasters over to my program, True Amateur Cash. It has alot to do with the type of content that you are asking other webmasters to promote. Everything that I shoot for True Amateur Models is 100% exclusive content and consists of REAL amateur girls and not pro models pretending to be amateur. Very steady and good conversions with initial signups as well as rebills.

So yeah, you can make money by referring other webmasters but you if the content doesn't convert then it doesn't really matter how many webmasters you refer. It also helps to show the webmaster that you are referring over stats of your earnings. If they see that other webmasters are making money (and as long as they are getting decent traffic) then they should do well too. Not sure what types of programs you were promoting but all I know is trhat my affiliates are doing great and the ones that refer over other webmasters, they are bringing in sales very steadily as well.

irinasp 01-06-2009 12:33 AM

yeah, it's just a little addition to pension with least effort ;)

Sarah_Jayne 01-06-2009 05:56 AM

I have a few affiliates who earn almost more that way than they do on their own sales. They make it part of their earning strategy and see it as recruiting for us and calling it a founders fee.

mineistaken 01-06-2009 09:37 AM
