At this extremes does the car start or you need to add fuel additives to keep the fuel lines from freezing up ?

Never had a problem with my car, never needed to add any fuel additives. The bigger concern is your battery freezing and not having enough cold cranking amps to turn the engine over.

Oh and I should also note that in Canada, it is mandatory for gas stations to change the gas blend to include additives in winter.

Hee, we've had that for a month in Alberta. It's supposed to start getting warmer come Monday - about fucking time. It's been too fucking cold for too fucking long. December is not supposed to be this freezing :(

You sounds like a spoiled Calgary brat... what with your Chinooks coming in every once in awhile and all... lived in Alberta for 25 years... loved it, and I use to sound just like you until I moved here in Winnipeg.

True Story -- I bought an outdoor thermometer and the first winter I came here, the guy selling me batteries for it goes "Oh yeah man, you need the Lithium batteries or else the sensor will freeze with regular batteries...", so I spend twice the price for the Lithium ones, who knows if he was just working a commision, but whatever, and then winter comes in and one morning the readout says "--", so I grab the book and what does it mean?

Temperature lower than -40C, sensor possibly damaged or frozen.

It never worked quite right after that week. Winters here are brutal. Come on down sometime and check it out. You'll get a new appreciation for Calgary winters, and if I could afford to move back, I would. :2 cents:

sharphead, Calgary is appreciably warmer than Edmonton which I believe is where Pornask is...... Calgary is often 10 degrees warmer than Edmonton

Edmonton gets some of that Chinook goodness sometimes as well, so I don't have alot of sympathy for anyone living in Alberta... well maybe those living in Fort McMurray... they get no love, but who cares when your making $400 a day. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
