Holy SHIT.........instant coffee..............

Yes, I love coffee and have for years, but now I have a question that may shake the coffee industry to its very foundation.......... here goes:

lol, wtf is with the foam that gathers at the top of a cup of instant coffee? I had to do instant today cause the store down the road is out of my regular and I didnt feel like going the extra mile so I just picked up some MH instant....It tastes like coffe would taste if it were made with car parts and it has a foam that sticks to everything it touches.

I hearby call upon maxwell house to cease any further marketing of this product untill this foam is explaned by science and proven safe.

Just kidding, good morning everyone, go colts!:1orglaugh

The bigger question is this: if you take a cup of hot chocolate in a mug and tap a spoon on the bottom of the mug, it makes a resonating "plunk" Sound. Coffee and tea do not make this sound...but instant coffee does.

Try it, it's true. I have a skill for noticing completely useless things about our universe.

You should be more concerned about the mind-altering ingredients of that mysterious Coffee-Mate whitener powder.

lol, that shits for little girls. I like coffee like I like my woman, Black and bitter....

Rey Vega, I have tested the audio propertys of said liquids and I must agree with you, though only slightly differing to say when the hot chocolate is made with milk does it sound similar to instant coffee upon spoon tap.

Thats freaky shit, considering milk is a much thicker liquid then the water mixed with the coffee.

Yum.

i had some instant coffee in thailand once that was amazingly good- not surprising as they seem to like the real stuff strong and sweet.

Try using boiling water.

yeah.....on time out in Cali I had some shit called "Thailand Tea" It was a super sweet, extreamly creamy type mixture with a serious tea taste. Very interesting drink.

I dont know if it was an instant blend, but it was out there.

mrwilson 01-04-2009 11:14 AM

natas 01-04-2009 11:44 AM

John-ACWM 01-04-2009 11:46 AM

I believe the foam on your instant Coffee has a lot to do with your water supply and how you boil it. For example if you take std tap water unfiltered place a tea bag in it and then microwave it until it starts to boil you will get lots of strange foam.

Water treated with a reverse osmosis filtration system stops the foam being produced.
A microwave is not a good way to make tea or coffee but you get scum appearing on tea or coffee if the water is not filtered no matter how you heat the water..:2 cents:
