ICQ SPAM Driving Me Nuts
 

I'm getting about 10 - 15 requests a day from people trying to add me. Of course they all write in some strange characters and shit. Who the fuck are these people? Does this happen to a lot of you?

Make sure to remove the details in your profile (like languages, interests etc). I'm pretty sure that causes most of spam as they can easily find you.

Yeah, some stupid fucking Russian fucktard kidlet is trying to impress his friends with his IM spammer.

Yea it's out of control lately some fuck head trying to sell a sms bomber or some BS.. The dumb ass fuck can't even write in English..

I have been getting a lot of the same. I used to just add everyone to approve them.

Now I ask them what they want, and who they are beforehand.

did ya ever use the "ignore" feature to block
those buggers? works fine for me :)

yeah, I'm getting like 10 requests a day all starting a few days ago. Usually it's one a day at most.

Luckily only 1% are smart enough use an actual nick, the rest just are just from "dkjaoidfj;la" or some other nonesense.

I get that same one and others at least 20x a day.

I block and ignore all of them, obviously, but these requests just keep on coming. I just got another one 2 minutes ago.

Looks like I'm definitely not the only one.

Remove all details from your profile, bots are scrapping your content from that.

I went back invisible, been that way for more than half the day. Not a single one.

Yeah I've been getting some major spam as well.

Does anyone have an issue with changing their profile? Every time I try and change it I get a message saying:

"The info has not been updated on the ICQ servers. Try again later."

Any ideas why?
