SEO, Making Money, Domains, etc.. Ebooks

Have you purchased these? Ebooks or whatever for SEO, domains, making money online, ebay secrets, google cash, etc.. Were any of them any good? If you thought so, what was your skill level on the topic at the time?

Generally my outlook on these "get rich quick" approaches is that if they were truly making that kind of money using their method they would not need to spend the time writing a sales pitch to sell the method to you. Usually they make money off of the ebook sale, affiliate links contained within the ebook, etc. Those which have techniques which earn them a good amount of income tend to not want to share it and further saturate their market. I am sure there are some good books far and few between, but I have yet to read any.

You might be right. Consider that it would mean almost everyone is self-taught then, if they haven't learned anything from others. I don't think that's true so there's probably a lot of good info available, but it depends on your skill level. Someone without much SEO skills might greatly benefit from SEOBook or WildSEO. Someone without much domain knowledge might benefit from domainprofits or whatever those are. I did pickup a few things many years ago with GoogleCash. Even when I did know something, sometimes flipping through one of these ebooks will refresh my memory and motivate me to apply some of the techniques again.

On another note I created an ebook about 4 years back for a "Roulette Cheat" and it earned me 45k in the first 30 days. I guess that is a lot of the reason why I see all ebooks as a way for the author to make money. But really, do these guys making 6 figures have to spend the time to write out an ebook, create a sales pitch, and teach you their techniques for nothing? Naw, they probably aren't earning 6 figs and are only earning the money they pull in off of ebook sales. I could write a book on anything by compiling information gathered on the web. I think these guys don't know enough to make tons themselves doing it, but can teach others and make money that way. I dunno, as you said for a newbie I am sure there is a wealth of information to be found within some of these books. I would say that vast majority are simply a way for them to make money from the newbs.

There is one legit place I know of, trying to think of the name. It is basically a close knit SEO school. Very expensive and very limited. Hmm...I will return here when I am done having a brain fart.

The site I was thinking of is http://www.stompernet.com/ - I have never used any of these places but during their last membership opening I think they sold all spots within an hour or something. The reg fee isn't cheap either as I remember.

Did you ever make any money using the roulette cheat or only from the ebook? Either way, 45k in 30 days.. why didn't you repeat the formula?

I bought an ebook called "How I got Ripped of 147 Times" or something along those lines...I got ripped off in the process but taught me everything I needed to know about the ebook biz ... :) .. now I look back and LOL big time ..

They are I guess good to get you started, they give you basic info, but often outdated info, and sometimes even wrong info... They usually contain nothing you can't pick up by playing with google for a bit and reading some blogs, boards, etc..

Definitely don't expect to pick up any "secrets" or any advanced strategies... Most of them are nothing more than paid sales pitches for some upsells..

I've got one i've used, mostly bullshit but I tested it from scratch and got a website running pretty good PR using it:

SEO Ebooks are just another revenue stream to exploit people who think affiliate marketing is easy and want to get into it :thumbsup

If anyone's ever tried to teach a friend or family how to make money online, you know what I'm talking about here. You can tell them all the best tricks, what to read, but they still don't always get it. They especially will not put in all the hours or focus that's often required.

I bet these ebooks are like that. The information is all right there, but 80% (more?) of the people won't bother to devote all the hours required to see it through.

Only from the ebook, it did show people how to gamble without risk to their own money though. I was making $300 CPA ;).This was shortly before the US Government started making it illegal for 3rd party processors to process US gambling transactions. I got to milk it for about 6 months, thought I had found gold, then BAM a 80% drop in profits almost overnight as the players were no longer able to deposit. This is what sent me back into the adult entertainment business.
