Why do people hide their identity when it comes to ownership of adult sites?

Why do people hide their identity when it comes to ownership of adult sites?

I have always been 100% open with name and contact info out in public.

Do you hide it for your own sake, or for your wife/kids/family?

Sly 01-03-2009 03:04 PM

Often times it's to protect one's family... particularly kids.

Don Pueblo 01-03-2009 03:06 PM

i think no one tells me how to run my fucking business. if they dont like it, suck a cock.

:2 cents:

plus whois often ends up on google so that casual searches of your name by family or any other person be it business or personal will come up with your sites, and many don't necessarily want everyone they know or will know to find out all the domains or sites they own :2 cents:

What adress have you tried to contact me on where you got no reply

I have had the same adress for the companies the last ohhh 13 years now. I have changed mobile phone 3 times, but the hardlines have all been the same, and all old mobile numbers have been forwarded for 6 month

Years ago there was thread on here(i think it was gfy) with a vid of some dude in a dually pushing someones car into their house. The cam quality sucked so bad though you couldn't see the license number.

The guy said he didn't have any enemies I think or some crap. Too many nutjobs out there. So yeah opening yourself up to cowardice attacks like that or save yourself the trouble, hmmmmm.

2257 regs plastered my info all over google and the net. Makes whois protection a joke.

irbobo 01-03-2009 05:09 PM

spammers suck ass... seriously you put your name and address and next thing you know your on an international call list for marketers. Seriously. No good comes out of it. Doesn't matter what the domain. Internet + identity = problems.

JamesK 01-03-2009 05:13 PM

It's very easy to hide your identity & avoids a lot of hassle when it comes to family, future business opportunities in mainstream etc. We live in a world where porn is considered filthy and unpure by many and I just don't want to let that get in the way of things.

I know some people would say "fuck them if they can't accept me for who I am" but from a business point of view I want to keep everyone on my good side.

KillerK 01-03-2009 05:59 PM

When you are 40 something and have kids and your son is dating a girl and her parents find out you have teeniesex.com we'll see how long your son has a gf.

Plus there are other things to consider, when you want to lease a house, they can google your name and if it shows porn, wave bye bye to the house.

exactly, and there are a thousand other possible examples where it could be a bad thing

it is just a good idea overall, adult or mainstream, to use privacy protection on whois, other than a possible few dollars savings there is no good reason to not use privacy protection, but a whole lot of good reasons to stay hidden :2 cents:

rowan 01-03-2009 06:50 PM

I've moved most of my domains to a new registrar which offers WHOIS privacy, but there's still a few that have my real name on them. If search engines were able to index every single page (or at least 95%+) then those domains would already be appearing as (eg) whois.sc results when searching for my name. :2 cents: So far they haven't. :2 cents:

On the plus side, there are at least two other people on the net that have the exact same name! :winkwink: The other good thing is that there's 3,400 Google results when you search for my name.

stickyfingerz 01-03-2009 06:53 PM

So Ebus_Dk are you afraid of people knowing what you look like then? Since you just sent a dmca to my host to get a picture removed from my hosting? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh :Oh crap :1orglaugh:1orglaugh Slink back to whatever hole it was you crawled out of. Take another year or 3 off like you did after the last little run in with me.

DCMA? I asked your host to do what you have had a year to fix

The pissingmatch I had with you had zero to do with me not being on gfy. Being in and out of the hospital was the reason for that.

How many cams have you had to pay people the last 2 years? and how many models have you told you would send a copy of their content to their father if they dident suck your cock?

I'm not hiding my images, i just dont want proven scammers like you or batts to host them, that is all.

Exactly. All of my close friends, my boyfriend, and even my mother know what I do, but I feel like sharing my business with certain family members and aquaintances would probably open up a can of worms that I'd rather not even deal with. Even though I don't find anything wrong with what I'm doing, some people might, and it's not worth the hassle.

Also, I'm sure other female webmasters have to deal with this - I pick and choose who I tell, because a lot of people are stupid and can't differentiate running porn sites from being a porn star, and they start treating me like I'm some sex-crazed nympho slut who has orgies with pornstars every day. It's annoying, because there's probably no other business where people completely assume that your job defines you entirely. I assume that it's 1000x worse for actual porn girls (people who can't seem to realize that having sex on camera for your job =/= wanting to fuck every greasy loser who recognizes you), and considering how annoying I find it as a simple webmaster, I'd probably want to punch people constantly if I was actual porn talent.

Suck a cock. Just for pissing me off I will upload that pic to 50 free hosts and link to it at every opportunity that I find. Along with any other pic I care to post. Now if you dont shut your fuckin trap I will take 5 mins out of my day and be glad to show how you sent an email to my former employer showing how you told them you had a law firm representing you from based out of MN lmao, and asking them to send you personal info about me. Then I called that lawfirm and they said you were full of shit, and that they would be very interested in who was falsely claiming that they were under retainer to them. ROFL You fuckin assclown.

you gave him a cam when he found out you sold the conten he ownd and how you "forgot to pay him" - not before - after.

You blackmailed your model/friend and told her you would send her content to her father - class act man - class act

I copied some text from a US law firms site and send it to your employee because you were using my content illegally, and hosting it at their server. He also told me why he fired you - funny story

I posted that email here at the same time as I send it to you. Takes you 3 secs to find the place i took the quote from if you google it.

But feel free to keep posting shit scammer. I dont care - but your processor and host might

RayVega 01-03-2009 07:36 PM

I never hid it...then again I don't advertise it either. But, my main line of work these days has me in a traditional mainstream corporate world so I guess I live a double life of sorts.

Although, when I was CEO of Jade Entertainment Group, and we came out with Mobbucks...I didn't hide shit. I was in most print ads, my face was on the site. If people don't like it, fuck em. My family all knows. It's not representative of my entire body of work so it's easier for them to rationalize it maybe. But I could really care less.

It's not just female webmasters. Although my friends don't assume I'm actually "part of the action" so to speak (as people might with a female) I do have to explain to them that most of my work is programming and statistics... I don't spend each day on a set with hawaiian shirts, cuban cigars, and giggling naked girls running around. :helpme

I'm sure there's already a crawler bot deep inside Google that can recognise text from an image. It will see the light of day sooner or later...

96ukssob 01-04-2009 10:49 PM

In all honestly, because I dont want to have to talk to people about it.

Just like this weekend, my GF's friends found out that we run a number of sites and the first thing was "how do i do this" or "can you hook me up with a site?"

A lot of people are mistaken by the internet and its money making abilities. Just because you have a website, doesn't mean you make a dime off it, especially with adult.
