Where are all the "Paypal" threads? Ebay allows paypal to pay for porn

Accepting PayPal
Starting in late February, you will be able to accept PayPal as a form of payment in this category. This will open another important door for the Adults Only category as more than 90% of all eBay transactions in other categories are paid through PayPal. Please note that only buyers with US PayPal accounts will be able to pay using PayPal and items in the Adult Only category will be visible only on eBay.com to buyers with US credit cards on file. For information on getting started with PayPal see Accepting PayPal on eBay Listings at http://pages.ebay.com/paypal/seller/

I think you can only do that with eBay stuff, not Adult stuff outside eBay.

ebay is forcing you to use paypal now. You will no longer be able to send checks or money orders. They even went as far as allowing it in the adult section. Well ebay owns paypal so just another 3% they get for every transaction

If I'm not mistaken you always could process tangible adult items outside of eBay if Paypal approved them. When I was still running porn stores it fucking killed me when Paypal pulled processing for adult items on eBay. We used to be able to clear out all of our old clearance items on there...

brassmonkey 01-02-2009 02:44 PM

i had to get permission to sell porn from paypal my account is over 10 years old

mynameisjim 01-02-2009 02:45 PM

I think you can sell adult tangible products using Paypal even off of eBay. Might want to check but I'm almost 100% sure. They made the change a few months ago.

Ebay is great for that. A good friend of mine who runs an electronics retail biz just liquidated like $50k worth of inventory last month on ebay.... crazy stuff!

I was told they terminated ALL accounts that had to do with adult.. It was tooooo bad to. Lots of people lost a TON of money.

Barefootsies 01-02-2009 02:58 PM

1. Read PayPal's T.O.S..
2. Read Webster's on the difference between tangible, and intangible or digital downloads.
3. Post your new findings in this thread.

This issue has been discussed many times before.

you won't loose it, they just freeze it for 6 months and then pay it to your bank account (without interest during these 6 months...which must be the big plan IMHO)

Here are some snippets for the lazy...

Quote:

Adult Only Category Policy

Materials adult in nature or otherwise inappropriate for minors (individuals under 18 years of age) may not be listed on the main site, but may be permitted in our Everything Else: Adult Only category (previously called Mature Audiences category).

Mainstream media (movies, music (CDs, MP3s), video games, books, magazines) are treated differently by this policy. eBay may use industry catalogs and rating systems such as the MPAA, IMDb, and ESRB to define which items are mainstream. For example, movies with an X rating and video games with an Adult Only (AO) rating are not permitted on the main site, but may be listed in Adult Only. Any media item available in the eBay pre-filled catalog is acceptable.

Profanity

eBay will permit media titles and descriptions (such as a CD name and track list) that contain profanity on the main site and in Adult Only. This profanity is only permitted if the original production company title or description contains the profane terms. All other profanity is prohibited. This exception applies to media items and does not apply to any other items.
What types of items are permitted on the main site?

Some examples include:

*

Pre-1980 Playboy, Playgirl and Penthouse magazines. These magazines may be listed only in the Magazine Back Issues: Other category.
*

Video games rated Mature.
*

Unrated DVDs that originally had an MPAA rating.
*

Profanity if it is the original part of the title or description of a DVD or CD.
*

Any media item available in the eBay pre-fill catalog.

What must be listed in the Everything Else: Adult Only category?

Some examples include:

*

Any items that require individuals to be 18 or older to view or purchase those materials.
*

Any items designed for use in sexual/adult activity, including items used for bondage, S&M or other similar activities.
*

Post-1980 Playboy, Playgirl, Penthouse and other adult magazines.
*

X-rated movies or movies designed for an ?Adult? audience.
*

AO video games.
*

Any listing that contains images of frontal nudity or of any form of sexual activity, with limited exceptions.

Important: PayPal and ProPay may not be used to pay for any item listed in eBay?s Adult Only category. Personal checks and money orders are permitted as payment methods for this category. For more details, see Accepted Payments Policy.

The eBay website is used by people from around the world. Many countries have laws regulating adult material that are more strict than those in the United States, and the law regulating the sale of such items through the Internet across national borders is not always clear. eBay is concerned that some items listed in Adult Only may raise legal issues in some of these countries, and for protection of its members does not permit our international members to access the adult portion of the site. In addition, for those adult items permitted on the main eBay site, we require that sellers select only shipping to the United States.
Requirements to use the Adult Only category

eBay requires members to provide credit card information or alternative verification to access Adult Only, which helps ensure that minors are not freely accessing adult material.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

*

Listing cancellation.
*

Limits on account privileges.
*

Account suspension.
*

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings.
*

Loss of PowerSeller status.

Accepted Payments Policy

eBay wants to help ensure that the marketplace offers buyers safer online payment choices.

Enforcement grace period for sellers: Starting October 20, 2008 only permitted payment methods will be displayed in the payment details section of listings. Sellers will need to remove all references to non-permitted payment methods from item descriptions. We know that this is a busy time of year for sellers, so to allow sufficient time to change templates, we will wait until January 15, 2009 before we begin taking action against sellers soliciting non-permitted payment methods within the item description of listings.

Permitted on eBay.com:

Sellers must offer to accept one or more of the following payment choices:

*

PayPal
*

Credit or debit card processed through an Internet merchant account
*

ProPay

Sellers may in addition offer to accept:

*

Payment upon pickup

For specific categories, sellers may also offer to accept:

*

Bank-to-bank transfers (also known as bank wire transfers and bank cash transfers)
*

Checks
*

Money orders
*

Any of the following online payment services: Allpay.net, cash2india, CertaPay, Checkfree.com, hyperwallet.com, Moneybookers.com, Nochex.com, Ozpay.biz, Paymate.com.au, XOOM

These payment choices may be offered only for items in the following categories:

*

Motors > Cars & Trucks
*

Motors > Motorcycles
*

Motors > Powersports
*

Motors > Boats
*

Motors > Other Vehicles & Trailers
*

Business & Industrial > Agriculture & Forestry > Tractors & Farm Machinery
*

Business & Industrial > Construction > Heavy Equipment, Trailers
*

Business & Industrial > Food Service & Retail > Concession Trailers & Carts
*

Business & Industrial > Healthcare, Lab & Life Science > Imaging & Aesthetics Equipment
*

Business & Industrial > Industrial Supply, MRO > Fork Lifts & Other Lifts
*

Business & Industrial > Manufacturing & Metalworking > Manufacturing Equipment
*

Business & Industrial > Manufacturing & Metalworking > Metalworking Equipment
*

Business & Industrial > Office, Printing & Shipping > Commercial Printing Presses
*

Real Estate
*

Adult Only

Not permitted on eBay.com

Sellers may not solicit:

*

Buyers to mail cash.
*

Buyers to send cash or money orders through instant cash transfer services (non-bank, point-to-point cash transfers) such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
*

Buyers to mail checks or money orders (except for items in categories specifically permitted above)
*

Payment through bank-to-bank transfers (except for items in categories specifically permitted above)
*

Payment through "topping off" of a seller's pre-paid credit or debit card.
*

Payment through online payment methods not specifically permitted in this policy.
*

Payment through payment methods not listed in this policy.

Misleading & Discouraging Payments

Sellers must clearly state the payment methods that they accept and may not include generalized statements soliciting buyers to contact them for additional payment methods.

Sellers who state in their listing that they accept certain payment methods must not selectively offer those payment methods to buyers or discourage buyers from using those payment methods.

This means that sellers must always accept payment from buyers through the payment methods they have selected in their Payment Details section of their listing, including PayPal, and must not act in any way to discourage buyers from paying by these methods.

This policy is not only limited to communications made in listings, but also includes all correspondence between a seller and buyer that relates to an eBay transaction.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions including:

*

Listing cancellation
*

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
*

Limits on account privileges
*

Loss of PowerSeller status
*

Account suspension
