What are customs/duty fees like in Canada?
My friend is shipping $700 speakers that are 100 pounds,
they are asking me what amount worth they should say it is. anyone have any idea on the kinds of fees? |
are they new and made in the usa?
|
You will have to pay the sales tax etc on the $700 so say $100 (tax)
If the product is new better to put the real value as customs know what stuff costs. Just my experience. |
Electronics are always weird, no matter what, at least GST. Then hope they don't charge any premiums. It seems to be random depending on who the agent is.

it is new electronics so i am guessing not made in the usa,
im not to sure if they will know if it is new. i also heard they can be weird on premiums, i am hoping it is just sales tax. i am wondering how they can prove how much your item is worth, it is from ebay my friend could just say it is used. |
don't fuck with them to try to save $10
get the original receipt, if you don't have it they like to give hassles usually all they want is gst, especially if you are going to Alberta which has no pst |
Almost everything I get from the US gets charged atleast 30 bucks.mostly boots, they don't even open the package.
I bought 80 bucks worth of cigars and they wanted almost 400 in duties.fuckin bandits |

i am wondering if customs cares about weight at all or just the overall price. |
