Arylia V3 vs Gallery Daemon V.10-7-2007

Looked at old threads on here already but I am looking for current opinions on both of these great looking scripts.

Does one have a feature the other doesn't that you can't do with out? Is GD still better suited to bulk gallery building than Arylia?

Demo on Arylia looks good, the only bit I can't see working is bulk import. On Daemon most of it is disabled so I can't even build galleries.

Last time when i opened same thread, people mostly voted for alylia.

Well I've looked at more than one thread and opinion is certainly divided. Some of these views are based on earlier versions of the scripts it would seem so I am looking for current opinions. Arylia has certainly been upgraded since then, not sure about GD.

I am interested in the result of this thread.

Jay just bought GD from nation-x and stated that he's got a developer working on it in 2009... so stay tuned! :2 cents:

Guys, dumb question but i have been out of the gallery loop a bit....

so with these scripts i can design my own gallery template, minus the thumbs... then give them a hosted gallery link that has content on it and it will suck it from there and place it into my gallery?

BlockThree 12-29-2008 12:00 PM

Matyko, can you contact me when you have a chance? Wanted to chat with you a bit about something else....

I am the proud owner of both scripts, both are very nice scripts, the rearrange thumbs via ajax is really nice with gallery daemon.

The thing GD lacks is the ad system, you have to upload the ads, then create advertisements like so

Code:

<a href="paysitelink.com"><img src="urlofbanner.gif"></a>
and so on, plus you have to match the ad code you added to the paysite.

With Arylia its done a different way, you add sponsor, then the paysites, and banners, you can upload a banner, use a flash file, us text, or html.

I have been running Gallery Daemon for almost a year, but recently switched to Arylia version 3 (I use to run v2)

In that said, both scripts are nice, but Arylia does have advantages over GD.

I do look forward to the updates GD will have in 2009

Basically, yes. :)

Yes I noted that from the threads I searched as well. Will be interesting to see what happens to it and if there is any integration with his existing stuff.

I saw your input on previous threads also. Intersting to see you are now in favor of Arylia over GD. I've got to admit, that's the way I am swinging at the moment also.

HorseShit 12-29-2008 12:19 PM

both are nice :thumbsup

Yes, I was comparing it to v2 of arylia, now that I have tried v3, Im leaning the other way.

Not knocking GD, its still a great script, just room for improvements.

Do you use the bulk import much? How many galleries/what kind of time to process?

I dont really use the bulk import, I like to pick quality galleries over quantity.

TheDA 12-29-2008 03:24 PM

Yep, I know what you mean :)

fris 12-29-2008 03:30 PM

But to answer your question, I have used the bulk functions, and they are pretty quick, faster in arylia though.

arock10 12-30-2008 08:06 AM

Thanks for the nice words about Arylia guys. I use approximately 20 copies of arylia 2 & 3 on my own sites which I have been running for years. So I'm not just some developer trying to make a buck, I am trying to get Arylia as good as it can be because it benefits ME, the webmaster.

I primarily use the batch function for my babe blog sites where I can churn out tons of galleries so I can complete my updates for the week much faster. Arylia 3 now also features much better video support and tube support, with the ability to rip fhgs/hotlink fhgs/upload zip files to make hosted gallery pages. Also Arylia can automatically convert wmv, mpeg, etc to flash using the free utility ffmpeg (you don't have to buy another script to do these conversions).

Arylia is actively worked on and comes out with new features periodically. I am more then happy to listen to your ideas for new features.

So once again, you can check out the demo here: http://arylia.com/?view=demoInfo

Lastly, 2 more days on our holiday promo, you can check out the details here: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?p=1525130

Any questions about Arylia, feel free to contact me at 295369830 or webmaster -AT- arylia.com

i like Arylia

crockett 12-30-2008 10:14 AM

One thing most people over look with GD is it has a pretty powerful RSS system that can allow you to update blogs with it. It allows you to build custom feeds and you can write a separate description. You can crop different thumb sizes for the preview image then have the description that works for blog updates.

I also have a few copies of the old version of Aryla and a new version that I haven't installed yet. It seems like a nice script and it really just comes down to how you plan to use it as to which is better. Both are quality scripts.

I use notepad. I guess I am just old school like that.
