Going to Europe, what should I exchange pounds or dollars?
Hey Hey, I am off to dussledorf for new years and was wondering with the pound being so weak which is the best currency to change up for euros?
I usually use my english card, but have a feeling my epassporte card may go further. What do you guys think? P.s. do the majority of places use visa in Germany? .... hehe going to Europe - I am in Europe stupid! |
I think they do.

you think they do what....
|
You should be able to get money from an ATM using your Visa card in germany
|
Awesome but which works best dollars or pounds to exchange. what will give me better value euro?
|
ATM's work in Europe, but unlike many North American banks, they may not offer foreign cards the option of what account to remove funds from so the default is usually the checking, so make sure you have money in that account
Your daily cash limit at an ATM might be far less than at home, even taking into account the exchange rate. My cash limit on many machines was 1/10th of what it was at home including exchange so keep that in mind. |
I think people have missed the point, but thanks anyway.
Happy New Years! |
both is gonna suck.

Unless you plan on blowing thousands does it really matter? If you exchange pounds, eventually you will need to exchange more dollars into pounds. If you exchange dollars you have your pounds still sitting at home.
It honestly doesn't matter much unless you spend over a few grand. |
See ya later alligator
|
just use your epass, 200 dollars / euros / pounds at a time
|
It doesnt matter.
|
Don't think it will make a huge difference, depends what you earn in £/$ if you live in the uk spend your dollars, if you live in the us spend your pounds, else your getting whacked twice for money exchanges.
