Need domain transfer advise.....

I am trying to trasfer from joker.com to netsol.com and netsol asking me for authorization code from Joker.

This is what joker replied to me. They said i NEED TO UNLOCK my domain. Please tell me if that is OK? Does unlock means it will be free for others to register or not?

Below Joker reply
Dear customer,

If you decide to transfer a domain from Joker.com to another registrar, all you need to do is unlock your domain.

This can be done in the 'Servicezone -> Domain Settings -> Domain - Modification(change) -> click on domainname -> Utilities'. The topic is named 'Switch off domain protection'.

Additionally, for .com, .net, .info, .biz and .org domains, the other/new registrar will ask for an 'AUTH-ID'. This AUTH-ID can be requested in the 'Servicezone -> Advanced Options -> Auth-ID Request'.

After having unlocked your domain, the transfer might be initiated at the other/new registrar. The procedure for the latter differs from registrar to registrar.

Any incoming request for transfer will result in a confirmation email, signalling the transfer to the domain owner, admin- and billing contact.

After not more than 5 days, the transfer is acknowledged, if you did NOT explicitly DISAGREE to this transfer.

Disagreement can be expressed through a reply to the confirmation email above, or through clicking a link contained in this email.
This email also includes the exact date, at which the transfer will be acknowledged.

We hope, this answers your questions to your satisfaction.

Best regards,

Your Joker.com Team

It doesn't mean they will have the ability to transfer it. You will still get an email being the registrant notifying you of who is trying to transfer the domain from the registrar. So when you reinitiate the domain transfer make sure you read who and where it's going.

Chances are, if you don't annouce the domain that you are tranfering then you won't have thieves at the gate waiting to transfer it to themselves.

If you read their email it's pretty clear.
