I'm the only designer i know who uses Corel Photopaint and Draw rather that Adobe, i still use Adobe sometimes but not nearly as much as i use Corel.
I have always used Corel so when i need to put my mind on the screen fast it and it does what i what i want it to do. I only use Adobe if there is an effect i need to use on my objects. about a year ago Lensman offered me a job at Adult.com, but the lead designer and everyone else there uses Adobe :( Now that i think back i should've just learned Photoshop :1orglaugh |

 Photoshop 7.0 here as well.

PaintShopPro may do what you want and will have less of a learning curve than PhotoShop. For making thumbnail pages (thumbs + HTML), ThumbsPlus is quick and easy.
