spent over $93K on modeling cost this year and

almost $7K on agencies.... I'm sure there are guys spending much more than me ....

Si 12-22-2008 08:09 AM

I spend $0 on modeling costs. I use a profit share system. 40% to all funds generated from there content. If they don't sell no money lost! if they sell well more money for the girls!

actually I used to shoot about 200+ scenes a year with modeling cost of about $120K. this year less than 100 I think. the solo shoots I do are very small most times and I do them at home.

It ain't the best but it's good for someone starting up
If you've got the money to pay the models, obviously thats the best way to go.

:thumbsup

Wow not bad

Porno Dan 05-09-2009 05:08 PM

I was looking for another post and found yours.

Prices have fallen out here big time, and we are getting better and better quality models.

Through May 1 of this year we have spent over $150,000 on models.

I've spent $0 on models as well. I just jack all my pictures from myspace and facebook.

You're spending too much. I've shot some of the same girls that you've shot (I've seen your work) and my cost for models is down by 50%. My location cost is down by over 60%. We're in a recession and prices have dropped out here in LA.

I think I've spent that much on Thai hookers this year. Or maybe they were ladyboys. Difficult to tell in the dark. :winkwink:

No shit.. I'll give you 40% of something that I might make one day... They'll have a shit-fit.

AAB 05-10-2009 09:55 PM

I suppose once you have nothing of value to show off with, you start bragging about how much you spent on models :2 cents:

voa 05-11-2009 12:41 AM

That is some serious money to invest

so, around $500 a scene is about the standard cost of a model?

It has little to nothing to do with how much you spent on models. It's about what you're left with at the end of the year.

Back in the 80s and 90s I used to spend $20,000 a year ($400 a shot, 50 shoots a year) most of those days were worth $10,000 a day. Shooting for magazines and videos. We still own the content and still sell it, see signature.

And yes it was easier in those days. :1orglaugh

How much of the work you shot do you still own?

Thank God we never went that route, this last year would of closed us down.

if ya find a stick in the bed..... well you know....

Easton 05-11-2009 08:30 AM

just did a quicken report and my 2008 figure was about $250k on male and female talent costs - then again, all hardcore stuff and up to 4 scenes a day, so it adds up really fast

The costs are down but not as much as your are saying. If your models costs are down 50 % then either you were paying way too much before or something is wrong.

Anyone who knows Jim and I will attest the we negiotate as hard, or harder than any prodcuers there are. We make package deals, bundle scenes, and are as cost effective as anyone in this business.

There are tons of models who tell us that their agents won't let them discount their rates. They say they need work and are happy to scenes for less. I know that one of the top agencies bookings are down over 50 % in Los Angeles from two years ago.

A few of the biggger agents have realized that times and have changed and have lowered their rates across the board.

I predict that as we move into the Summer slow down season that you will see a lot of desperate talent shooting scenes on their own for rates lower than we have seen in years, prehaps even to the levels you are talking about.

Yeah that is defiantely the way to go...what are your shoot days worth today?

Next time we meet, we should compare notes. Without posting actual rates it?s difficult to have this discussion.

I don?t negotiate and let them know what the job pays. I also tell the agent/agency what they?re getting as a placement fee. I?ve never had a problem with this. If you?re giving an agent a lot of work, you should be paying discounted rates across the board.

Given the current economic climate in the industry, I think it will go beyond slow summers. There are so called agencies that have gone out of business or are planning to close unless they can find other revenue streams.
