Do vendor Windows CDs work on other computers?

I found some XP cds that came with my old Toshiba laptop. Can I use them to install XP on other brand of laptops? I want to get rid of stupid XP shit that came with my new laptop.

I understand that, but those CDs that came with Toshiba and Dell say that its only for unit that it came with, so I figured there is some sort of validation on them to see if you're installing XP on THAT specific brand and model.
