Blog owners using Google Analytics ?

Can you go to your analytics account and select a site with decent traffic, then click traffic sources, search engines and Yahoo?

Do you have a serious drop in traffic on Dec 1st?

Nothing unusual here ... all seems good

V_RocKs 12-20-2008 05:30 AM

Strange thing is... As far as I can tell from the server logs I am still getting that Yahoo traffic.

Looks steady here. And I'm using the old java include.

Survey says: clear all your cookies and saved sessions, go to Google and search for indexed pages of your site through a query like site:domain.com. Click on one of the results, and see if your blog (WP probably) has the SE-visitor redirect hack. :2 cents:

Edit: or do this with Yahoo, I guess.

What is this SE-visitor redirect hack?

Yahoo traffic to my blog has more than doubled in the last two months according to google analytics

Mine dipped in December but ramped back up in January.

Can't seem to get Yahoo off the ground to compete with Google #s, but no...don't see a drop off as you mention.

V_RocKs 01-28-2009 06:33 PM

strange thing is that I still have all of the traffic and it is coming from yahoo... but just not showing up in analytics anymore.

In some older versions of Wordpress, there's a hack that redirects users that come from search engines.

mine is pretty par. just a slight dip, nothing like the graph you posted.

Nothing...same

kane 01-28-2009 08:00 PM

I'm seeing some of the same things. What I think analytics is not counting, at least for me, is image search traffic. For example I have one blog that gets around 2,000 uniques a day. about 1,800 of those are from SE's. My server stats still shows around 2K a day, but analytics only shows getting around 1500 a day and it shows nothing from google images (where most of the image traffic is coming from.) I'm not sure why that is.

No change here, but I also have found Google Analytics to be low compared to server side stats to the tune of 30-40% at times.

VicD 01-29-2009 02:08 AM

Everything fine here

qxm 01-29-2009 02:13 AM

... take it a bit slower on the promotion mon... I had a site I was aggressively promoting and all of the sudden shit hit the fan and had no more Google traffic.. only Yahoo and MSN.... it is one out of 20 so now I know what the threshold is and... how far I can go without getting on Google's bad side......

ExLust 01-29-2009 02:21 AM

Steady so far.
