Incredible artist. Pics and what not.

First, I just got a print last night from this artist. She's amazing.

I know what you're thinking. Nice photgraphy, but look again, it's not a photo, it's colored pencil.

I saw her in action and have been a fan ever since. She does incredible work. Her underwater work is amazing as well.

She takes a photo and recreates it on a larger graphic artist paper. It feels like card stock it's pretty thick. She redraws the whole thing one color at a time. Anyway, check her out. Her name is Elizabeth Patterson.

awesome works!

papill0n 12-19-2008 06:28 PM

you sure those aren't filtered photoshops? If she can really draw that shit freehand then she is one truly talented artist.

Jman 12-19-2008 06:31 PM

Thanks for sharing, this photographer as some awesome work.

Dude.. they're NOT photographs.
:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

She does this in colored pencil. Seriously it gives it an amazing look. You see the photorealism but you know it's not a photo. It's a trip.

I got fooled. I checked quickly with all the pics I liked and was sure it was photography.

Great fucking work.

Great fucking work.

With that said, I'm sure a lot of her work is based on a photo.

Spunky 12-19-2008 09:41 PM

Sly 12-19-2008 09:43 PM

Most of it is around $200. The size is like 20"x32"

A lot, but I don't have anything to do with her. I just bought a print and she does good work, but she also sells this artwork herself.

biskoppen 12-20-2008 06:43 AM

Looks very nice yes, but the fact that she's doing'em from a photo takes alot of the coolnest away.. if these were created from free fantasy they would have been really amazing..

RedShoe 12-20-2008 10:13 AM

Seeing her recreate the images on paper by looking at a pic and only working with a few primary colors and blending them is truly an incredible thing to see. Imagine you seeing a photograph and recreating that image in photoshop using nothing but the pencil tool, and the blur tool on a blank canvas. The image is simply a guide. She shoots the image herself as well. I had a chance to speak with her, she has someone driver her around a she snapped the images on a rainy day.

Either way, still very cool, and I'm still impressed with her work. :)
