Acer Aspire One 3G Netbook on sale Sunday for $99.
RadioShack will put an Acer Aspire One 3G Netbook on sale Sunday for $99. But there's a catch. You also have to buy a two-year AT&T DataConnect contract.
The Acer Aspire One grabbed 38.3 percent of Netbook market share in the third quarter, propelling it past industry pioneer Asus and its Eee PC 4G. Acer's Aspire One normally sells for about $300. The RadioShack-AT&T offer, as previously reported, is valid through December 20. The 2.44-pound, 9.8-inch by 6.7-inch Netbook includes: ? Built-in 3G capability ? 802.11b/g wireless (Wi-Fi) ? 8.9-inch LCD screen ? Built-in Webcam ? Intel Atom processor ? Windows XP Home ? 1GB memory ? 160GB hard drive ? Built-in memory card readers (dedicated SD and 5-in-1) Other players in the Netbook market include Hewlett-Packard and Dell. http://news.zdnet.com/2424-9595_22-255502.html |

I bought two Acer's this year.
I have the one you can see on my office desk, in the picture posted a week or so back. An Acer Extensa, with a 17" monitor I believe. I picked up a second one for my sister, it was a 14". It was a combo work computer, and gift. She needed it to do some work for me, and could never afford it on her own. But it was also a present. I do not recall what that one was. I think it might have been a bit newer, and a different type then mine. All the same. I really only use mine for e-mail, and some simple shit in my office. I use it mostly when I am traveling to conferences, or vacations so I can still do work, and check on shit. Occasionally I may use the wi-fi in other room while I watch TV. |
Grand total= $1,539 plus tax

I think I'll pick up one for my mother for christmas.

i wonder if any 3G sim will work .. I have a 6GB package which is fuck all I know .. but between it grabbing wifi when ever possible and just surfing and then this shit hole ;) .. I bet I would barely put a dent in the bw ..

So if you're not paying attention you get fucked for a two-year AT&T DataConnect contract?
Man, they are going to lose all the notebook consumers after this one. This will be the end of Acer, RadioShack, AT&T and the notebook industry as we know it. It was good while it lasted. With that said, one of my notebooks is an Acer. Great little system. |
Lots of people buying these and installing OSX on them too.
The $60 a month for wireless is a bit pricey for the average user. |
Dell Mini is on sale right now. I bought one 2 days ago.

My dell works fine ..

that's basically the same as the cell phone deals where they give you a cell for nothing based on an airtime contract, it's ok if you were planning on buying the airtime anyways :2 cents:
