Las Vegas - San Fransisco by car - how long?

Living on a small island, I fancy a bit of a road trip and to San Fran after the January shows. Roughly how long would it take to drive from Vegas to San Fransisco, and do all car hire companies do "one way" hires?

Thanks!

10 to 12 hrs would be my best guess. I'm in Sac about 1 1/2 hrs west of SF and its about that long of a drive to Vegas for me.

Depends on what time you leave SF...when i lived there we left around 11pm and would get to Vegas by 8am but thats us going fairly quick with no traffic....otherwise it can take 10-12...longest was 15 on the way back as there was some issues on the freeway.

Yeah too long for one drive, will break it down by staying at a motel somewhere, preferably from the 1950's with a crackling neon sign lol

it prob is a long drive if its just you in the car...we always went in a pretty much "entourage" fashion...usually 3-4 cars with 4 people in each taking turns so it goes by fast.

Take a flight - it's cheap now. Southwest goes for like $50 each way.

Considering he's from the islands, he probably wants to do that drive to take in the scenery along the way. Something that's quite impossible from 30K feet up in the air.

Good to know, that is cheap. But fancy cruising, hitting the road instead. Great thing about this biz : the whole world is our office lol

Exactly, that & potent combination of island fever and being single again until the end of January lol

lol I know. But living on a small island, there is nowhere to drive to! I used to drive alot when I lived in mainland Europe (mainly on the German autobahns with no speed limit lol), but now I fly everywhere - which is why I would like to 'hit the road' again for a while...
